Pretty riverside town with everything we needed, including a choice of supermarkets and an excellent bakery. Had a great evening meal at Hof van Dalfsen on the northern edge of town. Plenty of pleasant walks in the area and, of course, cycleways. Recommend visiting Zwolle (20 mins by car) and, for something completely different, Batavialand at Lelystad (about 45 minutes' drive) for its excellent boatyard and replica of the Batavia.

Big rooms with high ceilings make you feel very relaxed and not closed in, a complete contrast to the Wildthout Hotel I stayed in last night that had poky rooms. The bed was pretty comfy and the continental breakfast has nice. Not much to do in Delfsen except walks and cycling. The host provides a bike if you require one.

But we are doing a cycling trip and so other hotels are scheduled but we were lucky with the weather and the food is outstanding. Compliments to the chef and the waitress is a lovely helpful lady. We did not do breakfast.
