Oranjestad has a few nice areas for visitors with restaurants, bars and shopping. The water is spectacular! It's easy to get around by taxi or bus. Aruba is very breezy and the sun is hot - so lots of high quality sunscreen is a necessity along with a secure hat. We enjoyed happy hour and small plates at Cuba's Cookin' in the Renaissance Marketplace - try the mojitos!

Most visitors are from the cruise ships, and spend a day here. We enjoyed & days of which 3 days were snorkeling on 3 different beaches (more and we would have been roasted by the sun). The town, and especially the museum is very interesting - very Dutch.
We didn't do much shopping, there didn't seem much (apart for Dutch food in the supermarket) that we couldn't have bought anywhere. Lots of kitchy souvenirs near the cruise terminal. If you like fresh fish, it is well worth taking the bus (or driving) to the "fish market" at Spanish Cove. It is just a couple of sheds on the waterfront where the fish are landed and sold by local small-scale fishermen, who will also clean and fillet for you.

I enjoyed staying right in Oranjestad because I had many options for dining out in the evening. I rented a car so I was able to go to either side of the island pretty easily from there. The Arubus station is right there so I think it would be fairly easy to take that up to Eagle beach if one didn't want to rent a car. I was in town for part of Carnival so it was fun to watch that also.
My photos are of Eagle Beach, Tres Trapi, and Baby Beach. Oranjestad restaurants: Pastechi House, Lucy's - mahi sandwich, West Deck - fish/shrimp, and Dutch Pancake House - Dutch Pancake.

The island is very easy to navigate by auto. Many choices for food and shopping at the super market to grill out is a good way to save money for nights you don't desire to eat out. Sunsets are beautiful most every evening. Go to Boca Catalina snorkeling to see the Sea Turtles. If you want to feel young and vibrant go to Moomba Beach Club on Sunday evening.

While it doesn’t have the historic charm of Curacao, it is a fun water centric vacation. As true of most of the cruise ports, unless buying watches or jewelry, stay away from the tourist areas.
There is a lot of fine dining and local restaurants. We ate with locals at Peanuts and the food was good, plentiful and reasonably priced. The tourist spots were expensive. Frankly, why would you eat at Ruth’s Chris or Benihana? You can do that in Las Vegas.
The beaches in Aruba are all great. We liked Eagle and Baby.
Everything was perfect. Even before arriving I received all relevant information for a smooth arrival. I could use the pool before check in and after check out. I was warmly welcomed and felt all the time at home with the kindness of everyone in the villa. The room was spacious and comfortable. Please mind that if you do not rent a car, you need to walk 20 min to reach city center or take a taxi, but for me the walk was something nice to do on the daily :) I cannot recommend this place enough 💯
the victoria hotel is a beautiful newly renovated hotel with great customer service. the receptionist is friendly always willing to go the extra mile to help out and give recommendations for diner and activities on Aruba. parking Infront of the hotel is easy and good. the rooms are beautifully designed and comfortable. there is a coffee corner where you can prepare coffee thee and heat up food etc. which is a major bonus very nice and convenient. The lobby itself is very picture worthy
Yasmín and her husband are very responsive and personable. They are native Spanish speakers and there was a language barrier, but I had no problem communicating with them. They offer an affordable car rental as well. They are also very kind and patient people. The room was perfect for one person and the location was great. You could walk if you wanted to, it was only a 17 minute walk to the Renaissance hotel. I had a great stay.
The breakfast wasn’t your normal “holiday inn” breakfast but it is sure to fill you up for a long day of excursions and you have the option to change it up if you’d like.
It was within walking distance of the renaissance mall area with lots of food options, bars and a casino. Even closer if you drive , being located downtown driving around the island at most took 15 minutes but nothing longer .
The thing I liked the most was the location. Being in Aruba mostly necessitates renting a car, but Pista Q has a great location, and I was able to walk to most of downtown Oranjestad, meaning I was able to skip the expense of a rental car, at least for a few days.
Otherwise, it was very clean, the host was very nice, AC was good, and I feel like it's a great value.
Literally walked off the plane straight to the hotel. Ideal location for airport arrival/ departure day. The hotel itself was okay, there is really nothing to do around this area. I liked the lounge and pool area, it was aesthetically pleasing. The fitness center was a huge plus and breakfasts was ok.
The hotel's location was great. We particularly liked having a supermarket within walking distance. Our main mode of transportation was taxi and though we were a bit removed from the others, who also came to Aruba for the championships, the comfort made up for the distance.
Central location in Oranjestad. Great views of the harbor and all the boats coming and going . Lots of restaurants and bars nearby, not to mention the lobby restaurant/bar with happy hour 5-7. The pool is beautiful and well maintained. A great stay if you want to explore !
One of the best stays overall!
The host is super responsive and supportive.
The property is maintained exceptionally well and I was surprised to find all the amenities you'd normally expect at big chain hotels that charge a lot more.
We spent a whole day on the island with the flamingos and the night in the casino and we loved it. Super nice staff and food. The hotel room was spacious and clean and we loved the interior.
We were very well treated by Stanley and Samuel, and were surprised by how cute the building was. Very recommended for those who want to have an authentic experience in Oranjestad!
this boutique hotel is stunning , a little hideaway . perfect for quite afternoons by the pool . the guest host is so welcoming and your feel so at ease here. I loved it !
Great location, walking distance from everything in Oranjestad. Friendly host, efficient AC, adequate kitchen amenities, lovely backyard with pool and sun chairs.
