Staff were amazing, clean rooms and excellent food. The location was stunning and unbeatable. 5 star experience. We booked this place knowing it would be a splurge due to the cost, but it was well worth it. We loved the area and loved being on the canal. The included buffet breakfast was very good

Located in the Flemish region of Belgium, the beautiful medieval city of Ghent is a city of history and romance. It's full of hidden historical, cultural and culinary gems that you can easily discover.
The Gravensteen or "Castle of the Count" is a deceptively enchanting sight dating back to the Middle Ages. Constructed by Philip of Alsace, the count of Flanders, it's partially surrounded by a moat and beautifully restored, and hosts an interesting museum about the history of prison life.
Part of the UNESCO World Heritage list, the Belfry of Ghent is a medieval tower overlooking the Old Town centre. Saint Bavo Cathedral and Saint Nicholas' Church are the city's other two towers, with St. Nicholas' Church being one of the oldest landmarks in Ghent.
Enjoy a relaxing walk in the picturesque medieval streets and stop at one of the charming traditional restaurants for Belgium beer and a classic Flemish meat stew with French fries. Local delicacies include the popular Belgium chocolate and the purple jelly-filled candies called the "noses".
Antwerp International Airport is 32 miles away, while Brussels Airport is 34 miles. Just book your hotel, guest house, apartment, or B&B through Booking.com and discover everything this stunning city has to offer.
The centre of Ghent was pretty. The level of service and friendliness was generally good, but unfortunately this was not the case on the boat or at the castle. Having visited most of the major cities in Belgium this would be rated 4th after Veurne, (small but pretty and very welcoming), Dinant, (amazing Citadel), Bruges, (charming) and Antwerp (Our favourite, lovely old town, music museum, designer shopping and easy to access...we used the park and ride)

Lots to see and do.
Lots to see and do. Interesting history, great food, shopping, atmosphere! A wonderful little shop selling delicious mustard made on-site and packed in lovely crocks. Lace and chocolate shops as well as a full service supermarket in walking distance of major sites. Kid friendly scavenger hunt in castle with a pin as a reward at end. UNESCO site bell tower and building after beautiful building with charm and interest at every corner! Restaurants had several local dishes (a beef and a chicken stew) featured that were delicious! Safe and relaxing.

Ghent in general is a beautiful city.
Ghent in general is a beautiful city. The city center that is. Lots of historical area's and buildings. Very friendly people, nice restaurants and nice bars. One of my favorite city's in Belgium.
The big advantage of the city center in Ghent is that it is compact and all at walking distance.
I did a city walk and passed most of the historical high lights of Ghent.
Nice bars to try are the "Dreupelkot" (specialized in jenevers) and the "Dulle Griet". Be warare that if you drink the beer "Max" you will be without 1 shoe for some time.

Amazing and charming medieval city.
Amazing and charming medieval city. If you plan on walking, wear excellent thick-soled walking shoes, the cobblestones are gorgeous, but HUGE, and can be super-slippery if it rains. Save your "high heels" for another time.

Small but amazing town with more that plenty to see and do.
Small but amazing town with more that plenty to see and do. No matter how long is the trip, it is always at least one day too short. Beautiful city and history, awesome restaurants and atmosphere. Cant wait for the next trip back.
I liked the location, because it was really close to the train station, and 20 min by foot to the center, also there was tram station right in front of the hotel.
Stuff was really pleasant, they gave us directions and a map, we also used the luggage keeping service since we arrived earlier.
Room was clean, shower was great, the cleaning service was changing towels and throwing out garbage every day.
Complementary water and biscuits was nice touch.
I would definitely stay here again!
7 min from the train station. It’s a decent budget hotel w large room (room 209), large bathroom w nice towels, very clean. Comfy bed and pillows. My room was quiet - up some stairs- but faces a utility parking lot that on a weekday might rev up early. It’s a bit funky- bright red wall and black pleather couch but for a clean and well located budget hotel it was fine. Owner Hilde is a bit brusque but was very helpful helping me make the most of my short time in Ghent.
The location of the hotel was perfect for us as we were wanting to explore historic Ghent. The rooms were clean, smaller in size but still had enough room for 2 people. The view from the room was nice as well. The breakfast in the morning was buffet style and had a good variety. The hours of the breakfast buffet were nice as we were able to sleep in a little and not have to rush to get breakfast in the morning. Overall, we enjoyed this hotel.
The building was renovated recently and was well-appointed but also kept a lot of old-world charm. The location was ideal for exploring the old town of Ghent. The room was large and the artwork throughout the hotel was unique and interesting. A salon with comfortable furnishings and an outdoor terrace provided nice communal spaces to relax. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and featured tasty homemade cakes and jams.
Very friendly host and nice, spacious rooms. Very calm, we slept great there. The breakfast was very nice: we received a breakfast basket every day with items we had chosen (e.g. croissant).
The place is well located for those keen on both exploring Belgium and Ghent. It's a ten minute walk from the city center and about the same to make it to the station.
Several options nearby as well to eat.
The room is spacious and has everything you need for a short (medium length) stay especially kitchen appliances.
The bed is very comfy, and very clean. The sheets/pillows didn't smell of anything.
The location is great, as it is in the middle of the city center and everything is super accessible. There is a bus that takes you from the train station right to the hotel.
The host was very friendly, efficient and accommodating and so was the lady that received us. The place was well equipped, comfortable and super clean. Security was good. We will most definitely recommend to others and also stay there again if we go to Belgium again. Thank you for allowing us to use your lovely accommodation.
Beautiful art deco inspired house in very quiet location yet only a few tram stops from centre of Ghent. Such amazing architecture of the hotel but also in the surrounding streets and the historic centre. Loved it! The hotel itself was lovely and quiet, large room and bathroom with walk in shower, comfy, modern beds-perfect!
The view is phenomenal in the most amazing part of Ghent. The room is lovely and well stocked with free wine and drinks. The breakfast was personalized and gorgeous with incredible fresh croissants and breads and flowers. It is a tiny little hotel added on by a friendly restauranteur. Too notch place!
The atmosphere is quite nice as it is in an old monastery.
The location is not too far from the center of Ghent with its various sights.
Could become a great place if they change their attitude and come up to normal hotel standards.
This was my first stay and was lovely. It was better than we expected (or usually have with work) but I would, and have, highly recommend this hotel for people, friends, family and colleagues who visit Ghent
Studio was clean which is normal in Belgium !
Bed was comfortable.
Coffee machine in the room.
Good free parking next to the road.
A bakery close by to buy breakfast.
Small sauna in the room.
Lovely room, surprisingly large for Belgium in a nice location away from the main tourist area, which were within an easy walk. Close to some great cafes for breakfast. A really nice stay.
Everything was excellent except for the lack of elevator. But it is normal for this kind of buildings in Belgium . Only the people aged over 65 might consider twice before booking.
The location close to the centre of Ghent and its facilities and the ease of getting around the hotel. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. It was a clean, convenient hotel.
Exceptionally beautiful hotel right on the central square in Ghent. Perfect location. also beautiful room. Terrific breakfast and super-cool cocktail bar. Wonderful.
