Mainz is a fantastic city. It has all the flavors what I long for. The strong history heritage, z.b. Mainz dom; the best wein Jard region of the world, z.b Rhine Weingau; authentic German food; the active growing business environment; the city is not big but just big enough for everything. Mainz is the city , the longer you stay, the more you love and you will go away. Ich liebe Mainz.

The location is great if you have an early departure from the train station, but not so great if you want to go out to the old town in the evening.
What I liked was the convenience around my train trip snd the good quality of the hotel.

Mainz is a relatively small city founded in Roman times and
Mainz is a relatively small city founded in Roman times and
sits where the Rhine and Main rivers meet. Some Roman ruins still remain.
There is plenty of good shopping, places of interest and some great restaurants, a couple of days in the city is probably enough.
The Rhine forms the border between Rhineland Palatinate and Hessen, so you may need different travel tickets if you leave Mainz itself.
To see further afield, either the rhineland or hessen day tickets give up to five people unlimited rail travel for a very reasonable cost (about £30) so you can explore a large area cheaply.

I was there for work, so I didn’t act much as a tourist.
I was there for work, so I didn’t act much as a tourist.
Anyway I think that Mainz is a rather typical German city with an interesting Altstadt and good transportation. All the other districts I visited were rather abandoned, with tones of waste on the streets and an air of what the French call “decadence”. I didn’t feel safe walking back to my hotel at night and for 4 whole days I didn’t meet just one policeman.

Mainz is a great place to stay if you're flying into/out of...
Mainz is a great place to stay if you're flying into/out of the Frankfurt airport. A short 20-minute ride via the S Bahn takes you to a peaceful town with an amazing amount of things to see.
In addition to the Gutenberg Bible Museum, this small but clean and safe city has an amazing Dom and Aldstadt to visit.
The hotel was located along the charming Rhein river park and the room was large, clean with very comfortable beds. The breakfast buffet on the top floor overlooking Mainz, was excellent with a generous abundant selection at an additional charge of 15EU. There was a reasonable parking garage across the street along the Rhein, or free on street overnight parking after 7 pm to 8am, otherwise an hourly meter charge.
The hotel is very well located near the city centre of Mainz. You can reach the station in 10 minutes. The hotel looks very nice, the staff is friendly and the breakfast is very good. For parking the car, the best is probably to first search outside the hotel, along the same street. Otherwise they also have a private parking (on the back side of the hotel) but for a fee.
We were super happy with this beautiful characterful apartment in its excellent location right near the Dom and old town and only 350 metres from Mainz Römisches Theater train stop (which has a direct link to Frankfurt airport). The bed and bedding were recently updated and were very comfortable. The owner is delightful too! We highly recommend this apartment : )
The Manager, Michael, was extremely helpful at all times. He provided free breakfast for us, which was great. He also stored our luggage during the day. Our room was on the top floor and was very well designed with everything we needed. The Guesthouse is well situated for the train station and the old town. I highly recommend Mainz Guesthouse
We were only there for one night to experience Mainz Oktoberfest. It was the closest hotel to the festival, and it was just what we needed. Close enough to the tram so that you don't need a car to get there. Bed and shower were great. We opted for the breakfast and it was a great deal for around 5 euro.
The location of the hotel is great. It is close the the train station, the city center and the river walk. The room was ok. The bed is somewhat uncomfortable, I woke up with back pain and not well rested. The hair dryer is really weak. And there were no hand towels in the room.
Typical ibis comfort, near a train station, close enough to restaurants in the old town. Quiet.
Great sleepover location around flights from FRA, especially when Frankfurt hotels are overbooked and overpriced.
I believe there was a luggage storage at the lobby.
The hotel position is one of the best you can get in Mainz. It is indeed in a rather central but very quiet & green area. Breakfast rich & very good. Wide, silent rooms with so nice vintage furniture! Staff absolutely kind, helpful & diligent. I'll come back!
Good hotel for a pit-stop for 1 night when you visit the south of Germany or further.
Nothing speacial but overall good beds and breakfast. Location near the forrest is more in the name. Is just at the outskirts of Mainz. (15 min drive to the city centre)
The Hotel was near the train station, and also within walking distance of the historic sites in Mainz. The room was small but very functional. We would definitely stay here again.
The room is nice and small, but modern. It has everything you need. I can recommend this hotel for a few nights. It's close to the main station and therefore near the city center.
We were in the apartments across the road from the hotel it was spacious and equipped with everything you needed. Breakfast was very good. Pool a great size for a hotel.
Location: This hotel is located right next to the Mainz station.
Staff hospitality: the staff members were nice overall and helped me find what I need within the city.
Room and bathroom were comfortable an clean, hotel staff was friendly and helpful and we enjoyed the breakfast. Location in the heart of Mainz is superb.
