The building wisely combines history with modernity, two concepts which do not conflict, but rather perfectly complement each other. Its best and most valued elements have been preserved, such as the tile mosaics, canopies, original sculptures, an old elevator and the noble staircase that seems to have been untouched by the passage of time... tradition in harmony with the most avant-garde and innovative interior design and services. The De Las Letras H&R provides a private, intimate atmosphere for enjoying all sorts of pleasures: reading, rest, reflection…

Food & beverage

The design of the DL’s Restaurant complements the rest of the hotel. Situated on the lower floor, it has three different levels, with direct access from the street as well as a private entrance from the hotel. One of the features of the restaurant, which holds up to 88 guests, is the glass walls, which allow for maximum use of natural light. The restaurant is open from 13:30 to 1 in the morning. If you do not want the night to end there, you can visit the bar-lounge until 2 in the morning. Enjoy a wide range of cocktails to the beat of the most current and select music. Another special option which will also pleasantly surprise you is the summer terrace in the penthouse, with spectacular views of the most typical neighbourhoods of Madrid.

Room information

The De Las Letras H&R hotel has 103 rooms on six floors. The use of light and colour are two elements which are common to all of them. All of the large rooms have high ceilings and wide windows which let in plenty of natural light. The walls of the rooms are painted in original colours (ochre, burgundy, orange…) which are different on each floor of the building. Another of the emblematic characteristics of the hotel are the inscriptions on the walls of quotes from literature by famous writers and poets. The beds are decorated with large, comfortable cushions. This combination of elements provides the client with thematic decoration in a warm, cosy, intimate environment.

Important information

In the library, readers can browse a modern selection of great literary works, which readers can enjoy on one of the comfortable sofas. This is yet another valuable service of the hotel, which allows clients to feel at home.
The De Las Letras hotel has two rooms which hold from 10 to 150 people, as needed, for meetings, conferences, banquets… These rooms, which are located on the first floor of the building, have large windows onto the Gran Vía, with pleasant views and which allow natural light to enter. They have comfortable chairs and an elegant decoration which is complemented by the coffered ceilings and tiles from the last century. The ideal atmosphere to ensure the success of any social event.
These private rooms include individual temperature control and adjustable light controls, automatic curtains, windows with reinforced glass to minimize outside noise, projectors with automatic screens, plasma televisions, DVD players, music equipment, internet connections, minibars, boards and screens, telephones with access for outside calls, FAX machines, scanners, and video-conference services, as well as translation, hosting, and secretarial services

Location, while central, was at the quieter end of Via Grand and while room overlooked the street, the soundproofing was excellent.

Excellent Location and ideal for walking to all the major sites. Hotel is boutique and very modern. A fun place to hang out in the bar or upstairs rooftop lounge.

Don't pay the surplus for breakfast, go out somewhere. The price is not worth it. Service is bad (slow at best) and unattentive. Also, be sure to check your lighting in the bathroom While the pin lights are fun and "hip," they are not functional bathroom lights to see when shaving or putting on makeup.

The location is excellent, the hotel is very carefully decorated, the staff are impeccable and we found the lighting in the elevators was just right; it might seem odd but it is actually very helpful when returning late or having woke up too early.

While the bar at the terrace is great to hang out, it is overpriced; better go to the "Chicote" just in front of the hotel, with a much larger selection of well-made cocktails.

Located right at the centre. Helpful staff. Nice room and bathroom.

The main street is very noise, evening time especially; a better soundproof windows would be a great help.

The room was lovely and in a good central location.

The restaurant/bar area were badly run. The staff were not well trained and the services were chaotic, especially at breakfast. We also tried to eat an evening meal there as well, and waited an hour for a course. Then the food arrived barely cooked. Other guests made formal complaints to management but it didn't improve. The rest of the hotel was very good.

Hotel und Zimmer sind sehr angenehm und schön gestaltet, außer einem freundlichen Rezeptionisten ließ der Service aber generell eher zu wünschen übrig.

Der Service an der Dachterassenbar war enttäuschend. Die schöne Aussicht tröstete uns zwar etwas darüber hinweg, aber in Anbetracht der Preise (17 Euro für einen Cocktail und ein kleines Bier) würde man schon erwarten, dass das Servicepersonal deutlich schneller und freundlicher arbeitet.
