Playa Blanca is the newest, and arguably quietest, large resort on Lanzarote, which makes it popular with families. It is partially sheltered from the Atlantic winds by the dormant Montaña Roja volcano, and volcanic rock lines its sandy beaches which are spread around a bay.
There are 3 main beaches: Playa Dorada which is popular for watersports, Playa Blanca – the most peaceful, and Playa Flamingo which is overlooked by shops, bars and restaurants serving locally caught seafood. Further east the long stretches of sand give way to the rocky Papagayo Coves whose beautiful scenery is depicted on many a postcard.
A promenade linking the 3 beaches is lined with luxury hotels and resorts available on Booking.com, many offering all inclusive options and some even have their own water park. There are also lots of cheap apartments and private villas in Playa Blanca, some of which overlook Marina Rubicon. The Castillo de las Colorados watchtower sits on a rugged piece of headland looking across the Atlantic Ocean towards the hilly terrain of Fuerteventura.
Ferries to this neighbouring Canary Island depart from just across the bay and offer beautiful views back across the whitewashed buildings towards the mountains behind Playa Blanca.

The walk along the shoreline into Playa Blanca from our hotel near the lighthouse to the marina was very pleasant. Although most nights we ate in the hotel, we also ate in an Italian on Calle Irlande near the lighthouse. It was called Gustos and I would highly recommend it - the food was exceptional and the service and decor was lovely and you must book as it was also very popular. We also ate in another Italian called Avenida 55 which was much more simple in decor but the food was delicious and great value for money.
Taxis were plentiful and very reasonable.

The beaches in playa Blanca are gorgeous yellow sand. The town is Great for shopping, and restaurants, coffee shops You can get a bus that goes to many other towns on the island. You can get many tours over the island from Playa Blanca.
The sunsets October to December are stunning. Always about 22 degrees and no mosquitoes. A fabulous place to go to in uk winter, to get some warmth and sunshine in only 4 hours flight

Cute town to stay while visiting island.
Cute town to stay while visiting island. Long promenade from port, through town to marina with restaurant, shops, bars... Playa Dorada is great if you like being with other people and if you park at the very west part of the town you can walk/hike to the Playa de Mujeres and have a very nice and much bigger beach almost to yourself. There are few very nice playgrounds for kids. You can rent electric scooters at almost every corner

I'd recommend hiring a car if you're the exploring type (unless you're a cyclist and want to explore by bike). We got a great deal which cost us less than a taxi to and from Arrecife would have cost us.
This allowed us to go all over the island to landmarks such as Timanfaya National Park, the salt flats, Jameos del Agua, Cueva de los Verdes, the vineyards in La Geria and many more.
Casa Carlos near the marina is probably the best restaurant we visited. We also heard good things about Los Hervideros, but it was closed on the day we wanted to go there.
The restaurants on Calle Irlanda to the west of town were great the last time we visited (pre-COVID), but we were disappointed this time around.
Papagayo Beach is fantastic if you just want to soak up the sun and relax.
Montana Roja is a nearby extinct volcano that is easily hikeable.
We stayed at the Hotel Livvo Volcan which was fantastic and had excellent staff. The town centre is walkable (about 30 minutes) and it's right next to a market which is open on Wednesday and Saturday mornings (there is direct access to the market from the hotel if you bring your room card).

Several small town beaches available.
Several small town beaches available. All connected along the coastline by the Av. Maritima for pedestrians and bikes, secluded by hotels, restaurants and bars, in the old center a lot of shops, souvenirs and supermarkets. Everything spreaded along the southern end of Lanzarote. A nice place to stay, coming around easily by bus, bike, car or on foot. Bicycle is the best for the distances in the P.B. area.
Hotel was located in a great location that was walking distance to a marina with several bars and restaurants. We stayed mostly at the hotel for breakfast and dinner as had booked half-board but there are plenty of other nearby options too. The hotel is nicely designed and has several pools/sunbathing areas in the complex. None of these areas were particularly crowded while we were there so it was quite easy to get a poolside sunbed at any time of the day. Staff at the restaurant, pool and bar were fantastic and very helpful.
This is a great place to stay in Playa Blanca. The villa was very clean as was the pool. It was nice and quiet, with friendly neighbours. There is a supermarket nearby where you‘ll find everything you need. You can reach the Papagayo beaches by foot or by car and the place is perfect for trail runs. It’s also a great location to explore many sights of the island like Timanfaya, Salinas, many volcano hikes etc. Everything was super easy to organize and the hosts were very responsive. We can only recommend this place!
The hotel is located in a beautiful area of Playa Blanca and within easy reach of beautiful beaches (12 euros for 2 sun beds and a parasol) and plenty bars and restaurants.
The Sea Legs pool area is beautiful, particularly the swim up bar.
The room we had overlooked the sea and infinity pool and was kept immaculately clean and tidy. The Mini bar was restocked everyday.
The staff in the main bar on an evening were good and we did not have to wait long to be served.
Great hotel only 2kms or so outside Playa Blanca main area but easily accessible via a lovely promenade walk and €5 for a taxi if need be.
Situated on the coast so it was great just to step outside the gates by the pool area to get to the promenade.
Staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Very good options for breakfast including a gluten free range where needed. Would definitely visit again.
Very clean villa, quiet location on a complex although on a main road. We had a hire car and the villa was nearby to Playa Blanca's shops, restaurants and beaches. Comfortable beds, no problems with shower for us and a comfortable stay but we've stayed in better equipped villas on the island.
Nice welcome pack on arrival and hosts replied promptly to any questions and very friendly.
Beautiful hotel, and was absolutely spotless. The rooms were spacious and the location was amazing. We hired a car and could get around the island very easily. The hotel is located right next to Playa Blanca Marina which has lots of lovely restaurants. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Would recommend this hotel and would love to go back!
Beautiful hotel with amazing interior, infinity pool, spacious room, kindly stuff. Food was delicious, it was a pleasant stay at Playa Blanca. Will highly recommend to everyone. We will see you again for sure. Free parking, free water in bottles, amazing room with pool view.. Best of the best :)

The hotel was very clean and the facilities were fantastic. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was lovely for breakfast, lunch and dinner and there was a great selection of foods. Brilliant activities for both adults and children all day.
Amazing apartment with beautiful sea view in great location.
It’s in the center but still quiet which makes it perfect.
Also there is parking near by so it’s very comfortable.
The host is a nice guy who takes care of everything you need.
Excellent location within walking distance to the town / marina.
Breakfast staff were really good however a little variation in the food would have been appreciated, but a very good hotel.
Thank you.
Absolutely beautiful place. There isn't anything would change about this hotel. It is perfect and the staff are so very friendly. The location is great and the facilities are amazing. A perfect 10.❤️
Location is lovely just front of the see, with lot of green and trees. Really nice swimming pool and faciliites.
Good to have a lot of space for parking.
Hotel and room very clean.
The view of the ocean, tranquility and size of the apartment. Very comfortable and fully equipped. Great owner, explained everything about the apartment and Playa Blanca.
Lovely hotel great location beside some lovely restaurants and then a nice 20 min stroll into main area of Playa Blanca. Would definitely return and highly recommend .
