A must see. Local People were very friendly.
I will definitely rent a car. You can't compare the difference between the rent (Feul included)cost to Taxi fees.
Taxi fee from Heraklion to Agios Nicolaos 85 euro ( one way) With 170 Euro, you can Rent a car for many days ( 20Euro per day ) off cours + fuel.
Taxis are just out off line in Greece ( My opinion )

Really enjoyed our stay at Agios Nikolaos, which we used as a base to visit Elounda and Plaka where we took the boat over to Spinalonga Island. We explored Knossos Palace and the surrounding area.
Ag Nik has plenty to offer - great places to eat, lots of shops and lovely views of the harbour and lake especially at night.
Stayed in an apartment/hotel which was perfect for our stay - only downside is there are a lot of steps to climb down to the town - but well worth it! ⭐️

I've been to Ag Nik about 15 times and totally love it.
I've been to Ag Nik about 15 times and totally love it. The town is lovely with lots of wonderful restaurants, bars and shops. It never feels particularly busy either. If you have a car then you can visit some truly magnificent beaches and villages. Ammoudi Beach and Amoudara Beach are great. Take a drive out to Elounda town for more places to eat and drink. For a wonderful dinner in Ag Nik visit Pelagos restaurant - it's fantastic! It's an easy drive from the Airport to Ag Nik as well. Make sure you eat at one of the many lakeside restaurants. The lake is gorgeous at night time. Make sure you go on a boat ride out to the Blue Lagoon - it's totally worth it.

Chrisa was a wonderful host.
Chrisa was a wonderful host. She welcomed us with homemade baked, fresh flowers, wine and snacks. She was so helpful in providing information about what to see in and around Agios. We loved the apartment . It was spotless, provided everything we needed and we had a fabulous view of the sea. I would definitely recommend this lovely apartment. Thank you Chrisa.

Lovely traditional town - you could buy fresh produce if you wanted to cook...fresh fish, vegetables, fruit etc. Great places to eat by the lake and very reasonably priced. Trips from the port were available. Great shopping if that floats your boat....and the shop owners weren't pushy. The bars were relaxing and you can just sit and watch the world go by. It was nice that it wasn't too touristy and that we got a real feel of local life.

AGIOS Nikolaos is a stunningly beautiful town with breathtaking sea views lake and harbour. There are quaint streets of shops and beatiful cafes surrounding the lake. There is a good bus service. The local people are so hospitable.Food and tavernas are of good standard and food yummy.I like to eAt at Kri Kri and Olgas both just outside the town centre .
This hotel is the best in Crete. It is located on a quiet beach facing a small cove. The beach water is a very clear and beautiful turquoise color. All staff at the hotel are friendly and perfectly professional. I am sincerely grateful to them. The food was very good and the buffet every morning was very diverse and I was looking forward to the omelet on request, greek yogurt and freshly squeezed orange juice. The dinner buffet was also very tasty and the dish and wine at the à la carte restaurant in the hotel was excellent.
We couldn't choose better - although there was a small misunderstanding about what we've booked and the room we got, the personal was very willing and met our request. The facilities are new, everything is of a very good quality. The view from our room was amazing. There was a swimming pool which we though didn't use as the hotel stands next to several beautiful beaches where you can walk or drive within several minutes.
If I ever return to Crete, I'll definitely stay here again.
Receptionist is exceptional, he is super nice and helpful. The hotel is beautiful and is in an excellent location, a few minutes to all the attractions in the town. We got a junior suite and it has a spacious living room area that is tasteful and modern, with a proper size TV (other hotels have tiny TVs including Sheraton in Rhodes), the bedroom on the opposite side is nice and functional with a view of lake and city view. The place is super clean and pleasant.
BE VERY CAREFUL of what island you book for through booking.com. We booked this hotel for our holidays believing it was in Zakinthos through booking.com and somehow booking.com booked it in Crete !! And absolutely no response or help with getting refund or even credit for it. We lost over €860 because of it. Very very disappointed with both the hotel response which was 0 when we asked if we could get credit and go next year!!
Reception was very helpful from the start. From luggage storage, giving directors to the bus stops/how to get around Crete, to beach club and restaurant recommendations and tours to take. The aircon, Netflix and accessible restaurant and coffee shops around make this also an ideal place to work remotely. There is also a gym a 10 minute walk away and a bus station a 15 or so minute walk away.
Amazing views and located right next to the lake! What else could we ask for?! The location is amazing! My husband and I appreciated being near restaurants, shopping and beaches. The owner was extremelely kind, attentive and responsive. We also appreciated the restaurant the hotel had a partnership with to offer breakfast at a discount. The breakfast was amazing!
Beautiful views from the balcony , wonderful warm people eager to do anything for you . So very peaceful and probably the best snorkeling in Crete straight off the private jetty. Great salt water swimming pool and huge surrounding sun terrace. We ate there 3 out of the 5 nights and enjoying every meal. Thanks Manolis and Vasilis we had a fab stay . Poly Kala .
Great pool, amazingly looking hotel and the room, very modern and chic. We had a pretty small private garden at the entrance of the room. Staff amazing, very friendly and a family vibe, helpful and always ready for you, best aspect, they were amazing! Super pretty entrance to the hotel, everywhere with a lot of plants.
The apartment has everything you need for any length of stay in the city. We stayed in 3 different locations during our trip to Crete, and this apartment had the most comfortable beds, and best kitchen. We didn't meet our host in person, but they were always easy to reach by WhatsApp and very nice and helpful.
The property was located near to Agios Nikolaos town, 15’ walking distance. There is a small nice beach in front of the hotel and 2 restaurants close to it. Also the property offers 2 medium size pools.
The service is amazing, all the guys in the kitchen, restaurant and pool bar make your stay enjoyable.
The modern and fully equipped property is located walking distance to marina, restaurants, shops, and beach. It's in a residential road were you get the real feel of life in crete. Despina the host is truly a warm and caring and genuine human being who made out stay extra special
The staff were very kind and welcoming, helpful with what we needed. The room was clean and private. The view from the balcony is breathtaking. The beds are ok as for comfort but you expect that in a budget hotel. All in all a great place. Would come again
Minos Beach Art Hotel in Crete offers an exquisite beachfront experience. With stylish rooms and a tranquil ambiance, it's a retreat for relaxation. Indulge in a sumptuous breakfast buffet, enhancing the stay's luxury.
Outstanding apartment! Modern building, well-kept, good quality furnishings. And the deck! There is the beautiful view of Agios Nikolaos town that is shown, but also hills to the north and the sea to the east. Wow!
Great location, nice view, confortable and very stylish apartment. I was in contact with the owner all time, he was nice and friendly. Very convenient place to stay during a short viit to the Eastern Crete.
