Kazuraya ligt in Miyoshi, op 38 km van Tsurugi-san Chairlift, en biedt accommodatie met een spa- en wellnesscentrum en gratis privéparkeren. The dinner is spectacular, and they are well known for their Iya Soba (Sobakiri) that is pretty different from normal soba as it is thicker, shorter, and uses more soba flour. The shioyaki/salt grilled fish was delicious, and the yuzu sorbet they served after were great highlights in this kaiseki meal full of seasonal vegetables and ingredients. The rooms seem pretty newly renovated, and everything is clean and modern while still maintaining an older Japanese ryokan touch. Not sure if all rooms were like this, but we were given a large tatami room with a separate smaller living area and there were also 2 sinks. Perfect for a group of four to stay very comfortably while organizing luggage and packing without stress or having to climb over others to get ready. The staff were all incredibly kind and happy to see us, giving thorough explanations to meals and helping with luggage and even offering to take pictures of us in the snow. The property is also within walking distance to the vine bridge, which is where we went in the morning after check-out.

Nice staff, good food, amazing Onsen, good value for money. Long version: Well kept, well maintained and clean hotel. We stayed in a tatami-style room, which was very roomy for 2 people. Our room on 3rd floor was facing the road, with a nice view of the mountains. Despite being located next to a road, it's no problem as there is little traffic during the day and almost none at night. There is an outdoor Onsen with a view of either the mountains during the day or the stars at night. It is so relaxing to enjoy the stars in the onsen after a day of hiking! For people arriving by car, there's plenty of parking spaces right in front of the Hotel. For people arriving by bus, the bus stop is right in front of the Hotel. Very convenient. The staff is amazing! They really, really made us feel welcome and put in a lot of effort to make our stay great. Big "Thank You" to the staff!! The food (breakfast and dinner) was great as well. It's a variety of local and general Japanese food, served on traditional low tables (that allow western type of sitting with a hole in the floor below the table). The Hotel is a bit more expensive than what we usually book and we were hesitant when we booked it, but after staying we think everything considered (food, onsen, staff) it's good value for money and we'd stay there again. Iya Valley: We stayed for 3 nights, which means two full days. We didn't have a car so we relied on the public bus, which means there's basically one bus to Mount Tsuragi in the morning and one bus back in the afternoon. We went hiking on Mount Tsuragi & sight-seeing in Ochiai village on one day, to Nogoro (Scarecrow) village & double vine bridges the other day. By car, it can be done on a single day, by bus you need 2 days due to the timetable. Arrival & departure day can be used for the vine bridge close to the Hotel, visiting Oboke and the temple in Kotohira.

Obokekyo Mannaka ligt direct naast de Oboke-kloof en beschikt over accommodaties met gratis WiFi en Japanse yukata's. I particularly like the interior decor of the room. It is new and modern and yet retain some Japanese elements, like a tatami floor in the sitting area. It is clean and attends to details such as providing a lot of sockets for electrical appliances. It is conveniently located in the Oboke region

Sunriver Oboke ligt in Miyoshi, op 29 km van de Tsurugi-san stoeltjeslift en op 7 km van de Iya Hot Spring. De accommodatie biedt gratis WiFi en gratis privéparkeergelegenheid. Very nice, comfortable hotel. Friendly and helpful staff.

Hotel Iya Onsen biedt een prachtig uitzicht op de veranderende seizoenen in de Iya-vallei en beschikt over accommodatie in Japanse stijl en natuurlijke warmwaterbronnen. Springs were spectacular. Room with deck was enjoyable.

Naruto Grand Hotel Kaigetsu heeft accommodatie in Naruto. De ryokan met 3 sterren biedt een restaurant en heeft kamers met airconditioning en een eigen badkamer. The staffs were helpful. The dinner and breakfast were great. The room were clean.

Bizan Kaigetsu ligt in Tokushima, op 6,1 km van station Tokushima en 1,9 km van Awa-Odori Community Hall. Er is een Japans restaurant en er is gratis privéparkeren. Stand alone hotel on top of a hill overlooking Tokushima city. No traffic, it is a kind of nature reserve. I had a huge tatami room with panoramic windows. Very nice public bath. The room did have a private bathroom but no shower - Ryokan style.
