Everything about this hotel was excellent. We needed to change rooms for personnel reasons, this was done without any fuss with little delay( no fault of the hotel). Highly recommend a stay here.

Beautiful property ideally located on the promenade. Room was well maintained and spacious, very comfortable and overlooking the sea. Staff were exceptional and very friendly. Pete was very welcoming and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. He clearly loves his job and is an excellent ambassador for the Halvard Hotel. Rachel, Chloe and Grace also very friendly and efficient.

Loved the location! The tv was great to have after a day of exploring so we could chill out! The bed was really comfy and clean. Clean towels. The room we had was a little small but honestly it matched the price we paid for it which was very affordable. Have to say the absolute best thing about the hotel was Phil the pianist who plays in the piano bar beside the foyer downstairs! He is an absolute gentleman and incredibly talented musician who takes requests, would stay again simply to just hear him play!

Plenty to see and do, including in evenings (theatre, cinema, music). Good transport links (ferries, airport, around the island). Easy to get around in the town. Enjoyed the beach and promenade, and quayside. Nice places to eat - friendly and welcoming.

I used the cinema one evening. The girls at reception were charming and the cinema had a nice feel to it.

We know the Isle of Man very well and although Douglas has suffered through the current financial crisis, it is still a good city to visit. The museum is free and very informative. The tour of the government building likewise. It is easy to get around the city and buses to other parts of the island are plentiful. There is a range of restaurants to suit every pocket and we also cane home with Isle of Man kippers. People are friendly, including the lovely staff at the Hydro. I would always encourage visitors to make Douglas a base and travel all over the Island. Peel, Ramsey and Castletown all are worth a visit and offer differing aspects of the Island.

Douglas is a seaside town with most places in close...
Douglas is a seaside town with most places in close proximity to each other; the ferry terminal and Tourists Information Centre, the shops, cafés, pubs, banks, museum, and the two seafront theatres. The Villa Marina is a large theatre and cinema. The Gaiety Theatre is a smaller and most charming old theatre. Further down the Seafront is The Palace Cinema. I enjoyed a good film there. Comfortable seats. There a nice chippies around the town. The bus route Douglas to Ramsey along the coast road has stunning views. The other main towns are quick and easy to get to on bus, and the airport too. That's just half hour away.
Nice little hotel just off the promenade, very convenient for public transport and a short walk into Douglas town or an even shorter bus ride, the bus stop is at the bottom of the road. Also a short walk to the Electric Tram station. Our family room was very comfortable and breakfast was good too. We were able to leave our luggage on check out until later in the day.
We arrived by ferry and caught a bus to the property, basically any bus going along the promenade will take you there, get off at the Empress Hotel.
The hotel was in a fantastic location on Douglas Promenade with the shops and bars a 1 minute walk away. The breakfast in the mornings was fantastic. This was a served breakfast rather than the usual self service buffet style. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a lovely comfortable lounge to sit in and they have a good bar menu if you don’t want to go in for a full dinner. Extensive drinks list as well. A very clean and comfortable hotel.
This hotel booking exceeded our expectations!!! The location was picturesque, the staff were absolutely amazing, breakfast was fantastic (both cooked and continental)...we had to thank the chef in person for the portion sizes, the incredible presentation AND THE TASTE! The room we stayed in enticed us to stay in most nights after our daily excursions and dinner bookings!!! Everything about our visit to the Isle of Man was perfect!!!! WE WILL BE BACK!!!!
A really good apartment in an excellent position alongside the quay. Very helpful and cheerful staff and the comfortable accommodation was well equipped and modern. Must be one of the best locations in Douglas. Close to some classy restaurants but there were also some budget options nearby too. A very short walk to the railway station, buses and, if driving, well situated to access the other resorts of the Isle of Man. Would definitely return
Lovely location overlooking the Promenade at the northern end of Douglas. About a 30 minute walk into the heart of town but there is a bus stop right outside the hotel.
Hosts were so welcoming and made us feel at home.
Great breakfast selection including local dishes.
Room at the front on the first floor was well appointed and comfortable. So nice to have tea making facilities. Comfy bed and clean linen.
Handy for the ferry and for traveling to other towns. The three day travel pass is a great idea and it would have been good to get that information from staff and maybe some leaflets about places of interest.
It was good having the lift.
Nice clean friendly hotel.
Plenty of choice at breakfast . Only dined in once but nice carvery.
Many hotels now have the reuse of towels which makes a lot of sense.
Very clean, there was a gentleman called Jay who helped me a lot, an I would really like to thank him for helping me in my wheelchair, Thankyou for making my journey to the Isle of Man alot more easier, Thankyou to the hotel staff who were also very friendly would definitely use this hotel again.
Ravenscliffe Lodge is an exceptional holiday stay. The premises are very comfortable and spacious. There are delightful views across Douglas bay. Our hosts were welcoming and attentive. It is an ideal base for visiting the Isle of Man and close to the ferry terminal.
Accommodations were very comfortable and clean with a separate bed, linen, and towels provided for each of us (4 in total). The kitchen was handy and well provided. Good access to the connected hotel. Helpful management. Wonderful food at the hotel restaurant.
Beautiful hotel, the breakfast was amazing with stunning views as you eat! The spa was perfect and a great place to relax! The lady on reception was very helpful! This is the only place I will stop when I come back to the Isle of Man!
Breakfast was well cooked and nicely presented. An important message, for less mobile visitors, is that this hotel has a lift. There are many similar hotels along the front in Douglas, but very few have a lift.
The staff were incredibly friendly. In fact, one staff member, on his day off, saw us in town and came over to say hi!
The hotel was clean, the room large and comfortable, and the restaurant/bar food was good.
I had the pleasure of staying at the Halvard Hotel on the Isle of Man and I must say that it was a fantastic experience. The staff were excellent, providing exceptional service throughout our stay. Thank you!
I've been known to say that the Victorian hotels on Douglas promenade need knocking down.
However the level of detail given to the rooms and the guest's stay here are fantastic.
Exceptional breakfast.
I come Isle of Man for work twice a year, since covid I haven’t been able to come but previously I stayed this hotel and now every time I come over I will be staying here, 10 out of 10.
