The city of Santiago de Compostela is the capital of Galicia and the place where the Apostle St. James is buried. The city’s Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its distinguished old monuments around the Cathedral and the tomb of St. James.
Made of granite, the spectacular Baroque facade of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela features massive bell towers and statues of St. James. The Obradoiro facade of the Cathedral is one of the most exceptional examples of the Spanish Baroque period.
Surrounded by magnificent buildings, the monumental square of Plaza do Obradoiro is one of the most historic squares in the world and the heart of Santiago. You can stay in one of the hotels, guest houses or apartments Booking.com offers nearby this majestic square.
The final destination of the Medieval pilgrimage route (El Camino de Santiago), this city is the best place to enjoy fresh fish and traditional Galician bread. Galicia is the seafood capital of Spain and the right place to savor Salpicón de Mar (seafood salad) and Pulpo á Feira (octopus cooked with salt).
The Christian pilgrimage route of the Way of St. James passes by Santiago de Compostela Airport, which is 16 km away from Galicia’s capital.
I absolutely loved this area. Santiago de Compostela has everything you could ask for-culture, great food and friendly people. It was picturesque and clean. In addition it was a great base from which to easily visit other areas. It is a city I could return to again and again. We were here during off season so not sure if high season would be as pleasant.

The room was great, and the bath a very welcome piece of luxury after the Camino. Staff were very helpful and went out of their way to assist.
The main weakness was the breakfast, which I would call “ just ok”, and I had expected more.
The hotel was a little further than i thought from the cathedral and the main restaurant strip, but still an easy walk.

Lovely city.
Lovely city. Impressive main square and very impressive cathedral; fairly compact. Old town great: loads of eateries - specially down Franco St but many elsewhere. Finding tourist information office needs a little determination but very helpful when you succeed. Many good tours reasonably priced -especially Ria Basis and also Finisterre tour. You can easily get to La Coruña by train on your own but turn up a bit early because there may be a few security checks. Not an expensive place for a major tourist destination.

Santiago de Compostela is a nice place to visit but way more crowded than I anticipated. Suggest pre booking tickets to things you want to see. The cathedral and museum was wonderful. Also, suggest reviewing restaurant options and make reservations early for popular places. And pre-arrange a taxi two days prior to airport departure. If arriving by bus also pre-arrange a taxi.

Santiago is a beautiful historic city, with beautiful walks and good typical food, I highly recommend it. To eat a good tipical food, I recommnend the "EL BOMBERO" restaurant, it has almost 100 years serving good food.

The best place to end the Camino Primitivo. Even if the place was a ten-minute walk from the center, it was great place to stay and relax after camino. Singleroom was simple but enough. There was a little market downstairs and a big kitchen. The building has served earlier as a seminar center. There was a good and relaxed atmosphere. Gracias! The atmosphere of Santiago de Compostela is holy, cozy and friendly, despite a tourist. Many monesteries, museums, cathedrals..the old town is big, labyrinthine and so beautiful. Buen Camino and Gracias!
Ideally situated quaint hotel in the Old Town area of Santiago de Compostela. Immaculately clean throughout, with our room spotless and very well equipped including tea/coffee making facilities, bottled water and toiletries in the bathroom. Very comfortable bed and room large enough for 2 easily. We were fortunate to have a room with double bed (room 12). The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring all that Santiago has to offer, and a short stroll to the cathedral. Cannot fault this hotel and would definitely book again.
The hotel is within a 5-min-walking distance from the train and bus stations and within 5-10-min walking distance from Praza Galiza and the old town, with amenities such as bars, restaurants, and stores nearby. The rooms are clean and spacious and the staff is really friendly. We left something behind, and the staff arranged for that to be shipped to our location. Would definitely stay again on our next visit to Santiago.
Of the 16 places I stayed while in Portugal and Spain, it was in the top 3 for cleanliness. It was comfortable and had all the amenities I needed except for a/c.it was conveniently located near cafes, shops, and restaurants. It was just a 4 or 5 K walk outside of Santiago, so would be a perfect place to stop before entering Santiago the next day. It was easy to catch a bus back from Santiago to the hotel.
The staff was amazing and the hotel is centrally located on the Camino route. I had a million questions, and the receptionist was always there to answer them for me. I would highly recommend this hotel if you're doing the Camino or just spending time in Santiago de Compostela. The rooms are a good size and the beds are very comfortable.
Warm and welcoming hostal. The best place I stayed in Spain! The room was very clean and comfortable. The owners were incredibly friendly and helpful, and were able to give me a list of clinics & info to get a COVID test required for getting back to the States. Location is great. A wonderful place to stay!
Huge great bar that served fantastic food and great choices for beer. I had been in Spain a month and had not had an American IPA beer until I arrived at this place. The bar was very large which allowed a lot spacing between tables. Great during COVID.
It is a nice facility not that far from the Santiago de Compostela airport, at outskirts of the city.
Non-pretentious, bur very much functional (which is for me very excellent correspondence with character of Spain :) ).
Nothing can describe staying in one of the oldest hotels in the world. The location, the rooms, and the experience are excellent. Staying at the Parador was one of the highlights in finishing our Camino de Santiago!
Very efficient. We arrived very late, close to midnight and we had all the details of how to access the hotel and our room. The room was so inviting after a long day at work and then a late flight out to Spain.
Comfortable remodeled room . Comfortable beds. Great location around the corner from Cathedral
Offer discount at nearby overnight parking. I will definitely use Hotel again if going to Santiago.
This is a small but wonderful hotel within the old town centre of Santiago. It has been beautifully updated to modern standards. Great and super clean room and bathroom.
Enjoyed the ensuite bathroom and shower,as well as room on first floor. The cafe next door was excellent! Their cafe con leche was the best I’ve had in all of Spain!
