We were greeted with warmth and invited to a very clean and comfortable room with a private bath and a bathtub with lots of towels. What a luxury for a pilgrim on the Camino! The floor shared a fully stocked kitchen with coffee, tea, snacks and candy. This is a must stay in Astorga. I told the owner we would skip breakfast so we can leave early and she insisted she would get up even earlier to cook for us. I can’t imagine anyone else getting treated better in the whole city.

Fantastic location on the Camino, across the street from the Gaudi Palace and Cathedral. They have a bar/restaurant making it very convenient. Many other bars to choose from in the plaza.

The city is interesting, particularly in the old quarter around the cathedral and Gaudi building. There are several very good value hotels in the centre of the city and many restaurants which tend to be busy.

Astorga is a lovely town with plenty to see for a weekend stay. Main attraction is the Antonio Gaudi-designed Bishop's Palace (now a museum), a sort of Sleeping Beauty castle designed as a residence for the bishop of the cathedral next door. Secondly, the architecture and buildings all around town -- you can walk for hours and it's even large enough to get lost in, so bring your phone. The cathedral is sadly not very worthwhile -- drab, disorganized, you can go in but you won't stay long. Tip: Almost all shops are closed Sunday, except for the moust touristic, so do your shopping on Saturday.

The old town center was great--an example for the rest of the world! The whole town seemed to come out in the afternoons and evenings to eat, drink, socialize and people watch. It is a model of good urban design fostering community. All pedestrian of course! The people were very friendly to the peregrinos (like me) passing through on their way to Santiago.

Interesting old town with history, character and a great stop on The Camino de Santiago walk which has given a new lease of life to Astorga. The cuisine is another attraction and one hopes the improved economy will continue ... with its abnormally large cathedral and the Gaudi palace, charming town hall, plus the eccentric Paneiro poet family dwelling all add interest and
After finishing Caminos Frances and Norte, my sister and I rented car and returned to Astorga to see the Cathedral and visit our favorite jewelry shop. The Apt El Atico was great. The host was in constant communication and the contactless checkin and access was seamless. The 2 bedroom unit was very comfortable and the location was perfect. We would definitely stay here again. Parking was free, 5 minute walk.
Great location with short walking distance to all the sights, bars and restaurants . Nice sized apartment with views over a leafy square. Kitchen facilities were good apart from the lack of a kettle. Parking in nearby hotel is free of charge. Good value for money. Astorga was an unexpected gem.
We are doing the Camino de Santiago. This is a fantastic place in Astorga and has everything that you may need - towels, hot shower, coffee, comfortable beds and even a hair dryer. The host was very kind and helped us to get a taxi as we were unable to continue walking for the next section.
My wife and I were very pleased with our stay at El Descanso de Wendy. The room was very nice, the bathroom was spacious and the patio was spectacular. We sat outside as twilight fell and enjoyed chocolates and pastries above the rooftops of Astorga. Great breakfast. Great bed. Quiet.
Such a beautiful stay! the room was lovely and comfortable, and the breakfast was amazing. We stayed before starting to walk the Camino, and the good nights rest combined with the great breakfast served set us up for a brilliant day. Close to the Camino and all sights of Astorga
We shared a very reasonably priced room that felt like a luxury hotel- and the staff treated us as VIP guests. It is perfectly located in the central plaza where restaurants, groceries, banks and shops are plentiful.
Location to Gaudi Palace and cathedral - just over the road. Excellent dinner in very nice dining room.
Traditional style Spanish hotel, attractively decorated.
Secure parking in garage next door for €10.
A very spacious and comfortable apartment in a great location in Astorga. The host was very helpful and super responsive. Highly recommend staying here when in Astorga!
