The room was clean and warm when we checked-in in the evening. The staff were welcoming, approachable, and amazingly helpful. The garden area was nice.

I grew up in Christchurch but now live in Melbourne so it was nice to take my partner there. Our family spent many stays in Hanmer growing up in the 80's. It is nice to see that Hanmer still has the same charm and feel of Swiss Alps. There is still mini golf; Hanmer Hotel and the walk up conical hill- all the things I remember. It has grown and I see a lot more tourism but the Alpine resort feel especially in winter is still there....

A quiet Canterbury town with a restorative atmosphere.

A quiet Canterbury town with a restorative atmosphere. It has has not yet succumbed to big business high rise accomodation and over- commercialism, as seen in Wanake and Queenstown. It’s only 90 mins drive from Christchurch and its international airport. It’s cool in both senses. In a secluded valley off the main highway. Thoroughly recommend it for visitors to New Zealand. You can sit in hot pools, go mountain biking or walking. And there’s a farm animal zoo close by for the children. The adventurous can go bungee jumping. There’s skiing close by. And 4-wheel drives shirt and long.

Hanmer Springs is a great break away.

Hanmer Springs is a great break away. For most people, the Hot Pools, nice accommodation and restaurants are the main attractions. Our only negative is that as we drive a Battery Electric Vehicle, there is no fast charger in Hanmer Springs. There are two slow chargers at the pools, and we made use of one of those while we had a swim. The nearest fast charger is at Culverden and there's always a queue in our experience.

The Hot Pools are a great drawcard, always popular.

The Hot Pools are a great drawcard, always popular. Some great restaurants, cafes and bars. Lots of trees, provide welcome shade in summer. Plenty of walking and cycling tracks. Water sports - rafting, jet boats, fishing etc. Craft market on a Saturday. Always a busy place for locals and tourists, so book early.

The Mountain View’s were beautiful and the walking track varied from easy to difficult. The town was very pleasant, clean and well taken care of. The pools were wonderful and especially enjoyed being able to swim laps in the big pool which was never crowded. Overall it was a very pleasant place for a vacation

I booked the retreat for my partners birthday. We read the reviews after booking with non refundable and thought to ourselves ohh no what are we in for anyhow our stay was nothing like what we had read. We were very happy with our choice in stay. I'm a clean freak and after the reading the reviews, nervous was an under statement.... it wasn't immaculate but overall was 9/10. I hope this review helps others when looking for accommodation in Hanmer. We booked the spa bath room! Thankyou 🙂

WOW!!!! We had stayed in some pretty amazing motels over our week away but then we got to the Settlers Motel and we were blown away by the apartment we had. It was clean, beautiful and even little chocolates placed nicely on our beds against some small pinecones.. Just added to the beauty of the place... The hosts were AMAZING, so welcoming and accommodating. I recommend this motel and look forward to another stay there one day.

The place is opposite the Hanmer Springs water park. It’s is very handy for the shops and restaurants and also on the trail to the lookout point. The room was nice and met our requirements. The room had dining and a breakout area near the tv, so plenty of space. The staff were very friendly and offered us to use the hotel towels for the water park which was very kind as we had checked out.

The staff member was very friendly and hospitable. The room was spacious with excellent facilities and was in a pleasant garden setting. It was centrally located do the cafes, bars and restaurants of Hanmer Springs, and the thermal pools. There was a variety of walks to do around the town. The town itself was vibrant without being overly touristy.

A very well appointed, spacious, clean holiday home. Was super comfortable and perfect for our large family. The location is beautiful and very quiet. The hosts are super accomodating and we so nice to take us out to see the Mares and Foals - who are even friendlier! We will definitely stay here again next time we are in Hanmer.

A really comfortable place to stay in beautiful part of NZ. Hanmer Springs has a ski village feel with every building well cared for and in good condition. The apartment was a short walk to the Springs and easy access to walks in the local hills. This is a place that Kiwis go to relax. We had a great time with them.

Drifters Inn was the perfect place to stay in Hanmer Springs. It was situated right in the centre of the action and across the road from the Hot Springs. Everything was perfect and the kitchen was immaculately clean with a comfortable dining and sitting room for self catering. We highly recommend Drifters Inn.

The locations was superb. Hanmer springs isn’t very large, but this is right in the thick of the township. Walking distance to everything. The hotel looks very grand from the front and the gardens are nice. The garden villas look like the place to book here.
