While at night the last part of the walk is a bit dark, it is easy and feels very safe. The proprietor, Claudia, is exceptionally helpful. We had a problem with a theft from our car in a national park, and she helped us make the police report, translating and then also obtaining the written police report since it was not going to be available before we left the area. We can't thank her enough for all her help. The rooms are modern, clean, and well appointed. Beds are very good. Great to wake up and look out toward the volcanoes. Being a bit away from town, it is very quiet and peaceful. Nice yard in front to sit out and have a cup of coffee or use the grill overlooking the lake.

Palafito del Carpintero features sea views, free WiFi and free private parking, set in Castro, 18 km from Nuestra Señora de los Dolores Church. Really amazing view (sea and palafitos), nice pallet heater/chimney. Kitchen for small preparations of food. The pans only allow small portions, but it works for Spaghetti or Omelette for two. The breakfast changes from day to day. It is basic, but good. We had avocado and croissant one day, the other day we had donuts. Always there were toast, cereals, jam and eggs for own preparation. Hair dryer, refrigerator, toaster,microwave, water cooker, … it is all there. There is even a small balcony. The staff even cleaned the used dishes and the heater/chimney during our stay. Everything was clean and the water in the shower was hot. Water pressure 7/10, but good enough.
