My sister and I stayed here for a day before heading out to Drake Bay and it was sufficient. The food there was amazing too!

Cute little town near the airport. Probably not a destination, but, if you have a night to kill before flying out, it's fine. Otherwise, there isn't anything I know of to draw visitors. Couple cute restaurants on the main street. Felt safe walking around after dark.

We did more in San Antonio than we expected to do. The church in the center of town was welcoming, and there are a lot of restaurants with good food and service. The bussing to other areas (San Jose and Heredia) is well marked and has an appropriate schedule. Plus, the area felt safe to walk after sunset. Because of its convivence, we extended our hotel stay to stay in the area, and only bussed to San Jose for the day.

For us La Rivera is a take off and arrival point, so the easy airport access is important. It is an easy walk to a phone store or Pali supermarket for some basics, and the local pista, church and park give you a safe introduction to Costa Rica. There is not much else to do in the immediate area.
This hotel was a gem! The photos did not do it justice. We booked it for our last night in Costa Rica and enjoyed it greatly. The surroundings and decor were tasteful. My husband also enjoyed a dip in the pool.
A big thank you to the staff members as they were exceptionally nice and helpful - I don't like coriander and the staff members did everything to make sure I would have no coriander in my food. If we go back to Costa Rica we will book a longer stay in this hotel as they also organise wildlife trips.
The lady checking us in was very friendly and helpful. She was also very kind to let us check into our room early. She also made sure to show us the room and made sure that everything was clean and working well inside. The room was also a great size and it included a full kitchen with appliances. That was a nice bonus. There is also an excellent local restaurant right across the street from the hotel, which was very convenient.
Had to leave at 03.00 so no breakfast, but porter made us a coffee whilst we waited for taxi. The hotel had an old-world feel - was spacious and the room was comfortable and clean. There was a decent-sized pool which we didn't have time to use. We had dinner almost immediately after arrival which was tasty and plentiful. The staff were friendly and obliging.
We stayed at the Hotel Riviera our last night in Costa Rica. Our flight was at 545am and we had to be at the airport around 345am. The hotel arranged an airport shuttle for us for 330am and it was perfect. This place was nice and the pool was lovely. They had a wonderful restaurant and little bakery and charcuterie/wine shop too! It was perfect for our stay.
As a close to airport hotel La Riviera met all our expectations. Easy to get to (apart from the traffic….but that wasn’t the hotels fault) and very good, comfortable accommodation.
Staff were really helpful and it’s great to have a very good restaurant on site when you’ve just had a long haul flight and need an early night.
We liked the on-site restaurant which is in a separate building in a large open air space. The staff communicated with us everyday to ask about our dining preferences for the next meal. For us, the hotel was just a convenient overnighter near the airport, but we could have stayed here comfortably for much longer.
The staff are extremely professional. Attentive and hospitable. Reached out to us about needs for shuttle service to and from the hotel. Set up our COVID testing to be performed in our room right after we arrived at the hotel.
The room was very nice, tropical and the beds were very clean and comfortable.
Rachel the receptionist was just wonderful and the rooms were large and very well cleaned. In terms of proximity to the airport the hotel works - a short taxi ride. The hotel has a lovely pool and everything it needs to be a really great choice - yet I wouldn't choose it a second time.
The hotel is close to the airport. It has unlimited water and coffee at the reception. The staff is kind and helpful. I would suggestion learning some Spanish words here. The private room is quite big and has everything you may need as well as ventilation.
Great hotel, quite close to the airport. The staff was amazing, super helpful and the pool was great as well. We enjoyed the breakfast, it was very rich and tasty. Rooms are clean and not noisy. Ideal place to stay for stopover.
Great value. Free shuttle was easy and quick, room was nice, the staff were friendly. Breakfast was lovely, airport hotels can be hit and miss but this place was spot on. We’re back in San Jose next week so staying again.
I arrived in the late afternoon and took dinner at the hotel. What I enjoyed most was Rachel practicing English with me while I practiced Spanish. Very courteous and pleasant young lady.
Perfect hotel for flying in/out of San Jose , especially arriving late at night as they offer free airport shuttle. Staff were helpful, beds were comfy and breakfast was excellent.
Loved it - could’ve stayed longer :-) Such a great hotel with lovely staff, incredibly spacious rooms and perfect location for an overnight stay ahead of an AM flight!
