I find Amorbach quite depressing, to be honest... It is tiny, when the weather was good I walked for a couple of hours and used to come back to the same streets and places for more than three times. In the evening it is dark and empty, sometimes I had a feeling of staying in a dead city. Most of the people in the streets were tourists asking for directions, my impression was that there were no more than two hundred local people, though wiki says that there are almost four thousand. My mobile net and internet were barely working in Amorbach for some reason, so one evening I failed to order pizza because the restaurant was closed to visitors after 17 and I couldn't make a call.
The architecture is very nice, and in good weather the town looks very pretty. But I won't like to go there again, I'd search for a more lively place.
My review is of course biased. For example, I didn't have time to go hiking, and nature is beautiful there. There is also a nice botanic garden with the lake (Seegarten), but I couldn't enter because I was with a dog.
I traveled with my dog - the owners kindly allowed me to bring along my pet and didn't ask for additional payment. The house is located in the center of Amorbach (but the town is so tiny, that the exact location doesn't matter much). The room and all common spaces were very clean, it was a pleasant experience.
Very good buffet breakfast with excellent coffee!
Friendly and helpful staff in all areas of the hotel.
The room was very clean, with a firm bed. Walk-in shower with good water pressure. Nice balcony with a view of the hills in the distance.
Good car parking facilities at the hotel.
Location was awesome. It's nestled out in the country, on top of a hill with a beautiful view. Breakfast was excellent, with made to order eggs, and pretty much anything you needed. It was one of our top two favorite hotels on our 30 day trip around Europe. Highly recommended.

My father and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel staff were second to none, the accomodation and location was superb, and the food absolutely fabulous
