I like the position and the staff are very helpful
This accommodation in Bamberg's Old Town district is the former residence of Count Schrottenberg. It opened in May 2014 and features a romantic courtyard.
I liked the location where the hotel was located at.
Bamberg is the epitome of everything Bavarian: half-timbered houses, medieval splendour and heavenly views. Due to its overwhelming beauty, it’s almost surreal to wander its cobbled streets and drink it all in.
Speaking of which, Bamberg has a surprising number of breweries and inns serving its signature Rauchbier. Most are dotted around the UNESCO World Heritage-listed, pedestrianised historic centre - once at the heart of the Holy Roman Empire. Emperor Henry II ordered construction of the 11th-century cathedral and is buried inside.
His empire’s prince-bishops had it good, and their former seats are scattered over the city. Their Old Palace courtyard has wooden balconies adorned with bright flowers. The New Residence is even grander, with opulent halls reflecting the rulers’ wealth. Michaelsberg Abbey – the bishops’ private monastery - is on one of Bamberg’s 7 hills, and on the highest is Altenburg Castle, another ruler’s abode.
The modern seat of power – the town hall – is the most incredible building of all. Spanning 2 bridges over the Regnitz River, it partly hangs above the fast-flowing water and is overlooked by the colourful Little Venice fishermen’s houses.
Booking.com’s Bamberg accommodation is as eclectic as the bishops’ residences, ranging from old town hotels to cheap apartments and guest houses near Maxplatz, home of the main Christmas market.
Bamberg is a nice compact town which can easily be walked...
Bamberg is a nice compact town which can easily be walked and all the people of Bamberg we encountered were friendly. It had been beautifully kept and so many interesting places to visit or just simply wander about the town and admire the town as a whole. We had an amazing lunch at Hotel Brudermühl just by chancing across it as we walked the town and the Glühwein was pretty good too.
Currently (Dec 2023) there is a lot of restoration and building works so a number of locations are not open or are partially open for visitors but there is still plenty to see and do. Domplatz with the Bamberg Cathedral and New Residence are definitely worth visiting - make sure you go into the rose garden for the view across Bamberg.
In warmer weather a walk up to St Michael’s should be done.
Best thing to do in Bamberg is to walk and just Criss-cross the streets and bridges so you can see the amazing Altes Rathaus in the middle of the river from all angles as well as all the wonderful little finds on your walk. Bamberg is also a little shopping-mecca so remember to put aside some euros to spend here.
Definitely allow 3 days for Bamberg if you want to see everything.

Bamberg was a great stop in between Berlin and Munich.
Bamberg was a great stop in between Berlin and Munich. The small-town vibes are great and the city is beautiful. There is a lot of shopping and food. The boat ride was enjoyable. This town is a perfect mix of enough to do, but smaller and easier to navigate than a big city.
We didn't particularly care for their 'Rauchbier' (smoked beer) although many like it. We had great street food (doener and bakery). There is also a good mix of bigger stores and cute small shops (Christmas stores, bookshops).

One of the most beautiful towns I have visited in Germany. Maybe not the most excited when it comes to nightlife but if you are looking for a fantastic location, old beautiful building, great food and beer in a very peaceful environment with your friends or family, Bamberg is the place.

So much to see and do in such a relatively small space.
So much to see and do in such a relatively small space. So many little quaint corners to discover. So much history, so many good views. The people of Bamberg are really friendly and a wonderful laid-back atmosphere prevails, it's like all the visitors are happy. Sounds crazy but the air there is so fresh and clean in comparison to the Rhine-Main area where I live. The riverside has interesting cafes, bars, restos. The parks are lovely, the bus travel easy. I would avoid the RED BUS hop-on hop-off next time round. It's a bit of a rip-off. The Bamberg 3day ticket is a worthwhile investment.

In our mission to travel around Germany, Bamberg did not...
In our mission to travel around Germany, Bamberg did not dissapointed. It was exceptionally beautiful. Me and my husband were not expecting for this city to be as beautiful as it is. It has a lot of culture, delicious food and beer. Also the people in restaurants were really friendly!
I would definitely recommend for people to visit Bamber, but consider that is a VERY touristy place, so arrange your trip with time.
Once there you will be able to walk to most locations
Thanks for the comfort staying in the center of the old city. It is perfect for family stay. We asked in advance about the baby cot due to we were traveling with the newborn, so after our arriving we found the baby cot next to the main bad.
The apartment is huge and has the small bathroom in each floor that was very convenient. The best thing was that you can find all the place you need in short distance (streets of old city, Cafe, restaurant, beargarden). We were really enjoying our stay in Bamberg.
This hotel was absolutely wonderful, the perfect location to walk to downtown Bamberg, but on a nice quiet street. we had these lovely large door-windows that opened to the courtyard which made the morning coffee a wonderful experience. The included breakfast was so good and had everything you could want. Their restaurant is fabulous as well! Bamberg is a gem of a city, and when we return, we will def stay here again.
Breakfast was great. Full German. The hotel is not actually in Bamberg, it’s a little south in Beg. Dom the center of town it’s a very easy bike ride to the hotel which is by the river. I had a nice room with a balcony. My only problem was that they had the breakfast a little late for me: 07:30. As I’m biking and it is hot I like to start very early to miss the midday heat. Nice people, comfortable and good food.
Great hotel in an older building. We called because our train was badly delayed and the arranged to have us check-in using a lockbox for the keys. Outside of the city center and the heavy tourism. The restaurant in the hotel was very good with an ecceltic menu! The public buses are frequent and the 24 hour pass is a good value. It was a comfortable place to be.
The location was perfect. The bed was so comfy. Jorg was incredibly responsive and easy to communicate with (we only speak English). I'm only disappointed we didn't plan to stay longer! A really comfortable respite after a day exploring a fun, gorgeous city. Would recommend this to anyone! It was probably our best stay during our entire Germany trip.
Great location near the center of the Altstadt, so you are certainly in the middle of Bamberg life and energy. Lots of students in this city, so has a young vibe - and lots of older visitors:) Excellent refurbished apartment, well equipped and spacious; good bathroom; good bed. Bedroom windows need blinds or darker curtains.
Proximity to old Town, Christmas market, sites, shopping and restaurants was excellent. On-site restaurant Luitpold was our go to for dining, cocktails and dessert!! The best potatoe soup EVER! Amazing breakfast buffet we attended every morning. Rooms and hotel have a historical feel.
Nice hotel with big rooms. Around 20 minutes by bus to Bamberg city center (but there is only one bus per hour) or around 45 minutes along the river by foot (a very nice walk). Parking is available for free. Breakfast is good, everything is fresh and tasty. The staff is very friendly.
I have stayed in many hotels in Bamberg and this has been my favourite. The location was great, on a main street but the windows let no sound in. The receptionists were beyond friendly and helpful. The highlights were the amazing mattresses (very good quality) and quiet rooms.
The location of the apartment was perfect, the historical city was a few minutes by walk. The rooms were very tidy, well-equipped, the bed was super comfortable, and we found free caffee on the kitchen. :) I think that this apartment was the best choice in Bamberg for us.
Bamberg is absolutely beautiful, hotel in quiet location, nice 10 minute walk into Bamberg, uphill walk back or there is a bus stop nearby that we used when carrying luggage. Friendly helpful staff, traditional hotel, would recommend, we didn’t have breakfast.
We arrived in Bamberg quite late at night because our train was delayed. When we called the hotel the staff was very nice and told us not to worry. After being awake since 4am we were more than happy when we entered our room and saw two clean comfy beds.
The location was excellent and we could easily reach all parts of Bamberg on foot. The price was reasonable and we were happy to park in the basement. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed Bamberg's unique local beer at the hotel.
This is a beautiful little jewel sitting in the best place for touring. The staff sets this hotel apart from all others. The front desk manager was warm, efficient, attentive. Breakfast was lovely. accommodations were comfortable and spotless.
