Trier is an interesting town, however be aware all the facilities & services you might be familiar with & expecting, may not be available. Such as; taxi, Uber, restaurants open outside of regular hours - these may all be an issue, according to what we experienced.
Some of this was due to Christmas & New Years limited hours and services. Taxis and Uber-type services are an issue, and appear unreliable.

I love Roman history so Trier was a must-see for me.
I love Roman history so Trier was a must-see for me. The main tourist attractions are easily searchable online but the city is small enough to be completely walkable. I was there at the end of November and there were already Christmas markets set up which was fun to walk around - buy the Glühwein (mulled wine) if you're there at that time.
You have to eat at Weinstube Zum Domstein! They have traditional Roman food offerings which were delicious. I loved the meal so much, especially sitting in the Roman Basement (Römer Keller) where they have displayed Roman artifacts. Such a cool dining experience.

Trier is quaint and manageable for a small city.
Trier is quaint and manageable for a small city. Friendly and hospitable locals. There were enough English-speaking workers in various establishments. I enjoyed the walking trails. The city has a lot to offer for Roman history enthusiasts. It has a far reaching and interesting history as a city in its own right.

Nice restaurants with traditional food and friendly service. Lots of shopping options for all wallets and interests. Town maps and signs all over the town are helping to find what you want.
We loved the market squares and the Weinbrunnen in the middle where you get a lovely glass of wine most hours!
Very friendly personnel, always willing to help and excellent communication in english. Rooms were spacious, well cleaned and the badroom was very nice, especially the rain shower! Breakfast was very well taken care of with a lot of choice of products. Location of the hotel is great with a very nice view on Trier and only 5 minutes driving from the center if you want to visit the city or go for dinner. Hotel is also ideally located if you want to go for a hike in the beautiful surroundings of Trier. We highly recommended to book this hotel.
This place is outstanding! Communication with the host was easy, and she was so helpful. The apartment has everything you could want and more. The welcome gifts were a very lovely touch. I loved the decor. The owner has done an amazing job of making the most out of the space. We walked to everything and easily saw everything there was to see in the historic town of Trier in two days. A third day was spent indoors due to weather, but the apartment was so cozy, it did not matter.
Staff were very friendly and helpful on arrival. Breakfast was typical German breakfast and very good. The accomodation has obviously been updated, but we loved the charm of the original hotel. We stayed because over 20 years ago we lived in Trier and enjoyed the half chicken meals, so we appreciated being able to enjoy our dinner at same location this time as tourists. Car park space was also bonus.
good and well located hotel if you would like to visit Trier, friendly host, the rooms are very clean, the parking in front of the hotel entrance, the breakfast was good and has enough variety, special attention to the guests (we reserved 2 rooms for 5 people in total and it was very nice to discover that the hotel staff has reserved a big table for us during the breakfast! Big thank you for it!:)
Always a great small hotel in Trier! Always very friendly staff! So close to Porta Nigra and to the beautiful Christmas market! We love Trier and this hotel! Parking is convenient, breakfast is sufficient and there is an elevator to get you up the floors to your nice, clean room!
There is a Norma store right next door for any shopping needs - toiletries, drinks, fruit, chocolate, breads, etc

Nicely decorated rooms (not all apparently are renovated already I read) and breakfast room with view on the river. Excellent shower. Good fresh breakfast. Friendly staff. Free WiFi in breakfast room and lobby. Dedicated hotel parking at the other side of the street.
This hotel was a delightful find in Trier. It's just inside the historic center, within walking distance to many of the main sights.
