Loved this town because it's like going back in time, when people aren't in a hurry and take pride in their town and their food, culture, etc. Proud that they survivied WW2, and the importance to educating their children about it. Had a lovely tour about that. Went to great restaurants that our hotel Hotel D'Argouges recommended for us. Le Pommier and Le Volet Qui Penche!! Like to go back when it's warmer to see the beautiful flowers in bloom, we went 3/8, so I would like to go back in April sometime.

Do not stay here, this hotel is unkept, dirty, run down, and in dire need of maintenance. The room was not what we booked, so we were forced into a tiny cramped room. I had to sleep with half of the lamp hanging over the bed. The window wouldn’t close, we were in the second floor but still unsafe

Bayeux is a wonderful historical town that we used as our base for visiting Normandy and the D-Day site. The city quickly became a highlight of our visit due to its quaintness, history and cleanliness. I highly recommend a visit, we will be back for sure.
Upon arriving, we found the Hotel under construction and we were accommodated at their sister property the Belle Normandy. The same ownership has both hotels. We were treated like royalty. The rooms were large and brand new. The breakfast was excellent and the staff helped us a lot. We do not speak French and they helped a ton. we went to restaurants they recommended and had wonderful dinners. They helped us set up a tour of the Battle Fields and made sure we were comfortable at all times. No question we would go back to this same property.
The quiet hotel is located in the centre of Bayeux and well equipped. Easy to reach by car, cathedral and tapestry museum within walking distance. Free parking available just some 100 m away. A good base camp for exploring Normandy, especially if you're doing it by bicycle or motorbike, as it offers a possibility to bring in your "trusty steed".
There was a slight issue with the internet connection, which the proprietor fixed immediately. She was very welcoming and friendly and offered good advice on things to see and do.
Located not far from Bayeux which is a beautiful town in Normandy. Our room was comfortable, clean and quiet. We had a lovely breakfast every morning. Although I would have liked to perhaps have been offered a boiled egg, or perhaps yoghurt and fruit. However the bread, cheese and ham was good.
Nathalie, the owner was friendly and welcoming. And she gave us information on restaurants in the area.
This property was the perfect place to base ourselves for our trips to the Normandy beaches and also to Le Mont St Michel.
We loved our stay at Belle Normandy. The location is perfect, with beautiful grounds right on the edge of town, only a five minute walk to the cathedral and all the shops and restaurants. Our kids enjoyed the basketball hoop and would have stayed at the hotel much longer if they could have! The staff were amazing. They were friendly and helpful on recommendations, and they also seem very proud of the hotel, which was renovated from an old school. It is a very special place, and I highly recommend it.
Flat was very comfortable, quiet and clean. We were 3, but also 4 adults (2 pairs) would have enough comfortable space to sleep there. The hosts are realy nice and prepared for us not only different flyers from all the sights around, but also recent local events for the next days. They communicate only in french, but tolerated my google translated messages, so that was all good :D Bayeux is perfect place to start the visits of Normandy (especially the Beaches of D-Day)
Location was very central to all of the Normandy sites. The facility was absolutely beautiful and impeccably clean. Our hostess, Carole, was quite possibly the nicest woman in France. The breakfast was superb and included many home made (and grown) items. The stay is well worth the cost. I cannot overstate the quality and experience. I would give it more than 5 stars if such a thing existed.
The staff was very welcoming and friendly, and our room was very nice and looked just like the photos on Booking.com. There’s a pretty lawn and garden between the main hotel and the orchard rooms where we stayed, and convenient free parking. Breakfasts were great with eggs, bacon, charcuterie & cheeses, fresh fruits, and local yogurts and baked goods from Normandy.
The staff at Hotel d'Argouges are SO nice! They gave great advice and called for a taxi for us. There is a wonderful outdoor seating area where we sat and played cards while eating our croissants. The farmer's market is right across the street and you can walk to breakfast, lunch, dinner, shopping, Notre Dame de Bayeux, and the Bayeux tapestry from the hotel.
We needed one room for one night for a family of 4 and stayed in the top annex room. Perfect place to lay our heads before our Normandy tour the next morning. Girls loved popping into the pool/hot tub after a day of traveling and breakfast was perfect with lots of drink and food options. Great central location to walk around Bayeux after dinner.
Beautiful Chambre d’hotes, with the equally lovely Christine an excellent host. 20 minute stroll into Bayeux and all the many things it has to offer. Perfect location if touring the Normandy beaches as we were. So peaceful at the house, the map room was a real bonus. Christine put together a lovely breakfast. Just perfect!
Absolutely beautiful park like environment with wonderful staff with lovely rooms. Excellent restaurant and comprehensive breakfast offerings if you choose.
We were delighted to come home every day after spending time in the fascinating Normandy area. This hotel more than met our expectations, and we would gladly return.
Location was perfect, being just outside Bayeaux. 5 minutes by car to town centre and museums. Hotel had good facilities. Free parking onsite was very beneficial.. Good sized room with ensuite batfh with shower . Kettle for making hot drinks. Plenty of electric sockets.. Good level of cleanliness.. Free Wifi.
We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Reine Mathilda.

My husband and I stayed at Villa Lara during our time in Normandy. Everything about this hotel is excellent. We will be returning to Normandy in the future and this will be the only place that we will stay. The hotel is beautiful, the staff went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful.
Beautiful hotel in a great location just 5 minutes walk to both the train station and bayeaux town centre. Our room overlooked the orchard and it was lovely sitting out on the terrace. Breakfast was delicious particularly the apple jam made with apples from the orchard.
A really special place. You feel a sense of grandeur as you drive in and very welcome when you check in.
Could benefit so much more if not just an overnight stop, but even then it is a close launch to the Normandy coast and Bayeux.
Amazing hotel, very friendly staff and great location. Can't be better at this price point. The room was small but comfortable. Bayeux city centre is walkable and parking in the hotel is very convenient.
charming, convenient, fabulous gardens, gracious and efficient host, luscious and lovely breakfast a perfect lodging for the total Bayeux/ Normandy experience.
also has off street parking
