The staff were brilliant - couldn’t have been better.
I found the bed hard and uncomfortable, and the lighting in the bedroom was too dim to read by which was a problem because I was unwell for two days and had to be in bed a fair while.
But the thing that persuaded me to vote low was some of the other guests who happened to be opposite our room. They made our stay very uncomfortable.
But I repeat, the staff were wonderful.

Everything about this hotel was excellent. We needed to change rooms for personnel reasons, this was done without any fuss with little delay( no fault of the hotel). Highly recommend a stay here.

Beautiful property ideally located on the promenade. Room was well maintained and spacious, very comfortable and overlooking the sea. Staff were exceptional and very friendly. Pete was very welcoming and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. He clearly loves his job and is an excellent ambassador for the Halvard Hotel. Rachel, Chloe and Grace also very friendly and efficient.
The little village of Ballabeg is in a very pretty setting.
The little village of Ballabeg is in a very pretty setting. It does get very dark at night so carry a torch. The location was a short walk to the steam train station. You can catch the train from here and go to Douglas etc. Check the timetable as you need to stop the train.
We ate at the pub in the next village, which was great food with a Sunday Carvery, there was also a small shop next door. We only had about 4 days touring the whole island, which for us was about right.
The village is mainly residential so take lots of supplies with you or from the local shop. We had our van and cycles with us, to get out and about. The IOM is a wonderful, quiet island and will definitely return.
