Located in Barmouth and with Barmouth Beach reachable within a few steps, The Sandbanks provides a shared lounge, non-smoking rooms, free WiFi and a bar.

lovely modern room, beds were clean with plenty of clean towels and a cot for the youngest member. Tea/coffee/biscuits in the room which was great. beautiful view of the beach front. only downside was the hot water stopped working after about 20 seconds in the shower, not the end of the world. breakfast was quite expensive, £10, and was quite a small and basic portion, I did think it was pricey. staff are lovely people. we would definitely come and stay again.

Seaside town, but not Blackpoolish (good point) plenty of choice of bars & restaurants. Not Rowdy, visited in mid April. The local people we friendly & helpful. Didn't try the beaches at this time of year. The surrounding area is stunning.

Been visiting Barmouth area for years.

Been visiting Barmouth area for years. Wide Sandy beaches and dunes. Barmouth is a small town with basic shops, takeaways and a good amount of pay parking. Outside of the town are lots of smaller villages, beautiful scenery including Snowdonia and castles such as Harlech. If you want a good breakfast/ fry up try the Milky Bar cafe just up from the level crossing. Never had a bad meal there in 40 years 😊👍

Most guest houses seem to be on the seafront.

Most guest houses seem to be on the seafront. The views from there are excellent. A half mile walk takes you across the railway viaduct where the view towards Dolgellau along Avon Mawddach is one of the best in Britain. To access the land on the far side of the Mawddach is best on foot, because by car it is necessary to drive either ten miles into Dolgellau or use the toll bridge at Penmaenpool, which saves only a couple of miles. The hills behind Barmouth have excellent views but involve a very steep climb. The best route up is to follow the signs to the National Trust's Dinas Oleu property. Other than that, the great attraction for Barmouth is the hill walking. All of what I've said here does depend on good visibility. Being Wales, rain and low cloud are not uncommon, but that is hardly Barmouth's fault!

We've visited the last 40 odd years....a lovely seaside town with the added bonus of spectacular scenery. The Mawddach Estuary and Bridge make it for us but equally when the kids were young there was the beautiful beach and places to go crabbing. We used to cycle along the old Mawddach railway track with them in their seats on the back. Wonderful walks, lots to do and explore.

Barmouth is a lovely seaside town in Wales.

Barmouth is a lovely seaside town in Wales. It is not overcrowded with activities which means it has kept some of its charm but there is plenty to do. There is a nice beach, a small funfair, a couple of amusements, donkey rides and plenty of lovely places to eat. The harbour is worth a visit and a lot of people enjoy fishing for crabs off the pier. We took a beautiful ferry ride one morning over to Fairbourne and caught a small steam train along the peninsula taking in the sprawling estuary on which Barmouth sits and it is sandwiched between the Snowdonia mountain range. A beautiful view of sea and mountains.

I booked here not knowing what to expect, but thinking it could be some sleepy little fishing town with not much on. But its proximity to the mountains - we came to walk Cader Idris - coupled with the fact that there was a beach was appealing to us. When we arrived we found a clean, well-maintained town with plenty of options for food and drink, a decent selection of shops - which were thankfully not all tat-filled giftshops, a lovely beach with arcades and a small selection of rides for children. If you are looking for somewhere to stay that isn't too heaving so that you can relax, unwind in nature, visit the beach, or take in some of the walks, I would recommend a visit.

Excellent Full English/Welsh breakfast and hot too! The room was spacious and spotlessly clean. The hotel is just 25 yards from sand dunes and on to the beach. There is paid parking available in bays, but if you can park on the slots just outside the hotel or on the roadside there is no charge. Barmouth's shops are just a short walk away and plenty of opportunities to eat out as well from award-winning chippies to curry houses, Chinese restaurants, and pubs serving reasonably priced food too.

The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The check in was friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was served quickly and without fuss. The hotel was in a central location and would be ideal for people travelling by train, but parking was available nearby, too. We would definitely book again. We didn't have the opportunity to try an evening meal as there was a function on the night we stayed, but Barmouth has a few other places where you can eat, so it was not a problem.

Walking distance to the beach, shops and town centre. Spacious apartment, clean and had all the facilities we needed. Dom and Becky were very accommodating, friendly and very fast to respond to messages and enquiries. Barmouth is a charming town with a great, family-friendly beach, whilst also being a short drive from the mountains. Also, great sunset views of the ocean and mountains in the evening. Would highly recommend, would love to stay here again in future.

Absolutely spotless. The towels were luxurious- just like home. Location just perfect. Beds really comfortable. Stylish decor. Sky TV. And when I kind of got lost on arriving in Barmouth, Debbie was on the other end of the phone. Would definitely stay again. This is an exceptional property. Yes, no views as such, but it had everything. Loved the welcome pack. The finishing touch.

We stayed for 3 nights mid October, it was right on the beach and central to all amenities for adults and children. If we went to Barmouth again we would go back to Môr Wyn. The hotel was at the end of the parking zone so we were able to park for free at side of hotel, although I guess it you went in middle of holiday season you would find it harder to find a space.

The B&B was in a great location just on the way into Barmouth with the most amazing sea views. Really lovely place to stay! We stayed in a Double Deluxe Room with really contemporary decor and a lovely bathroom, and the most gorgeous views across the water. Staff were really friendly and the breakfast was great with lots of choice.

Great location for us as we were cycling so didnt mind that it was at the far end of barmouth. If you like a long walk or dont drink then its ok as you'll need to drive do town. Its nice an quiet at night and theres parking at the hotel unlike others in town. Great breakfast and host were very accomodating.

This was our second stay at Hawen and it didn't disappoint. The apartment is equipped with everything that you need for a comfortable stay and if we go back to Barmouth and it's available, this would be our first choice. Off-road parking at the garage is a bonus with limited parking in the local street.

I loved the view from my room and the dining room/conservatory. Amazing looking onto Cardigan Bay whilst having breakfast and dinner. Excellent location, about a 15 minute walk from Barmouth town centre with buses to Barmouth and Harlech from just outside the hotel.
