The lady who was so nice - explained to us about the island, the beaches, the walking trails. The location, the room - just on the sea, fantastic view. It felt like home.
Located in Katapola Village, the traditionally built Casaprimavera offers air-conditioned accommodations with free WiFi access. Facilities include a shared kitchenette.

Exceptional service. Friendly and helpful. We stuck on the island because of bad weather and instantly got the extra night in other clean, fresh and cozy room. Kithchenette was great with stove, toaster, kettle etc. Easy and clear communication and instant check-in.

Very close proximity to port, restaurants, shops etc yet quiet and calm setting surrounded by antiquity and lush planting. Stylish interior and common parts with high standards of finish in a (presumed) converted building. An excellent base for exploring this beautiful island.
Surrounded by a garden, the Cycladic-style Castelopetra is just 1.2 mi from Katapola Port and 2.5 mi from Amorgos Chora. It offers air-conditioned studios with free WiFi and panoramic Aegean Sea...

The husband and wife team Angeliki and Stergios are quite helpful and attentive. Angeliki elicits such warm feelings that she almost appears to be running on sheer joy much of the time. Stergios is more low key and interacts in a steady and circumspect manner. The location is quite good; the town is very walkable. The breakfast looked spectacular although I am not a breakfast person.
My one area of dissatisfaction is the room interior. The rooms are quite stark, almost monastic in nature. I don't believe there was even a picture on a wall, and the bed and lamps were quite old, although the mattress was firm. I realize most of the guests are French and they are not as concerned with old fashioned hotel rooms as U.S. citizens. The major issue for me was the bathroom. There is no showerhead. The shower is extremely outdated and one must use a hand held shower hose. I believe the last time I even stayed in a hotel room with a hand held shower hose was 1979 or 1980. So I would ask Stergios (he seems able to fix anything) please update the showers so that the bathrooms have an overhead showerhead. It may take a while to update all the bathrooms, but at least update a few of them. Ppl will pay more if they receive a renovated room. And perhaps, Angeliki, replace the bathroom towels with softer and newer towels. It is amazing how much better one feels, if after a shower, the towels are soft and skin friendly. (even if one must hold the shower head)
All this being said, I would still stay here again, if I am invited back!!

if you think Santorini is a bit busy and crowded then head to this island for a bit of the feel of how Greece was 30 years ago
With excellent restaurants and secluded beaches
( but you are going to need to hire a car or motorbike although the distances you travel a short , from Katapola to far north 30 min and to the far south 30 min and some of the most spectacular drives you will experience anywhere

Katapola is very convenient because the port is there.
Katapola is very convenient because the port is there. It is recommended if you are going to rent a car, because there is easy access to Chora and the rest of the island. It is a quiet place and has a lot of Tavernas. "Mouragio" is recommended for fresh fish. The salad with Xinotiron is a must try in Amorgos. Xilokeratidi is a nice long walk from Katapola (maybe 15 minutes) , where one can enjoy the sunset. Enjoy your cocktails at "Fata Morgana" and an amazing pulled pork sandwich. "Yukali" on the other hand offers fresh mussels and seafood pasta topped with excellent service. If you like a long hike continue your walk from Xilokeratidi to Agia Paraskevi for the sunset. It is amazing.

Quieter than other big islands and still plenty of good restaurants, rental properties and cars available. An unexpected extra was live music in a garden setting just steps from our lodging on the hillside above the port. Recommend renting a car and seeing other parts of Amorgos as well. I have been to the island twice and would go again!

Katapola is quiet and charming with a good selection of restaurants around the picturesque harbour. We visited at the end of May when it wasn't busy and the island's landscape was greener and dotted with colourful wild flowers - an ideal time for walkers.

Nice atmosphere at night, lots of bars and restaurants, and yet a quieter atmosphere compared to other busy Islands. I enjoyed having dinner at Youkali, in Katapola, and the stunning landscape of the island.
Location is very well connected by bus with other places of the island, however, in the late afternoon you might need to take a taxi. Convenient as we arrived by boat from Naxos and wanted to drop off luggages, get a shower and go out to explore the island. Don’t miss the monastery with the view over the grand blue beach, the village of Chora and walking around in Aegiali. You can also do some hiking between traditional villages.

It is just a beautiful little place with good snorkelling near a tiny church on a headland near Meltezi beach. We ate at a number of tavernas but the best was "The Corner" run by Nikos and his wife Olga. The food is superb! I don't know how he manages to maintain such a diverse menu of mostly traditional Greek dishes. It's easy to get around either by bus or hired car or motorbike. There is absolutely nothing we would avoid if we went there again, which we most certainly will do!
The property is new and incredibly tastefully done inside and out. The room had exposed stonework beautifully executed, a balcony facing the sea, and designer lighting options to create a perfect ambience. Location is optimal right in the middle of the charming port of Katapola. Parking is ample and easy. There are plenty of tavernas and shopping options nearby. No immediate nearby buildings and stone walls of the rooms provide plenty of privacy and soundproofing for this Cycladic-inspired building.
Friendly and welcoming, location 1 minute from the ferry drop off, beautiful view sitting in front of the hotel drinking coffee or juice. Most of all the staff were happy, always a good sign. They could not have been more helpful, lovely and open, this does not happen by accident, it's well-managed.
The WiFi in the room was flaky, in front of the hotel eating one of the delightful pastries it was excellent however.
I felt like one of the family, I would certainly stay here again.
The room was spatious, clean and very comfortable. The highlight was the big balcony with a magnificent view over the bay of Katapola. It takes a little bit of work to get up to the apartment, especially with the heavy piece of luggage we had. Something to consider in advance.
Antonis is a very helpful and generous host. He accommodated us with everything we needed and even brought us big pieces of delicious cake every day.
Giannis did everything to make us feel like we were visiting a friend. We were warmly welcomed (thanks again for the welcome and farewell gifts <3) and provided amazing suggestions and tips about the island. He was right as we found something special about Amorgos. We will definitely come back again and stay at Giannis'. Thanks again for your kindness and benevolence !
we highly recommend Pension Barbara! Barbara is very friendly, and is attentive to every detail. Our apartment was spacious, had a great view, and was well equipped. Plus, Pension Barbara is located in the center of Katapola, and Katapola is in the center of Amorgos, so it is a perfect place to set off from to explore the town and island.
The host was excellent in assisting us with all our needs. We appreciated the ride to the hotel after our ferry ride, even though I forgot to make a reservation for one. We also appreciated the suggestions and the car rental that came right to our door. The location is also great for getting to and from the ferry. Thank you!
Cosy, small studio with a balcony that has views across the bay that forms Katapola. Despite being compact, the facilities provided were very good and all that I needed for a 3 night stay. Excellent location only 2 minutes walk to the harbour front shops and restaurants. Nikitas was an excellent host.
St George Valsamitis is a modern, efficient hotel, located above Katapola. Staff were welcoming and friendly, the whole hotel was spotlessly clean and the room was comfortable. Excellent wifi reception. Covid precautions were in force and tourist information was available.
Our host Christos was already waiting for us when the taxi arrived In Katapola! We felt as though we had known Christos for years! Such a warm welcome and he gave us good advice re restaurants, beaches etc! A good address should you be visiting Katapola!
Amorgion offers an outstanding view over Katapola bay with a high quality of service and a wonderful setup. Konstantinos made our stay stylish and above expectations on every way. Amorgion is definitely a place I recommend for a stay in central Amorgos.
Wonderful terrace and view of Katapola; extremely helpful and friendly staff; lovely homemade breakfast. Hotel kindly offered to pick us up at ferry and helped us organise a rental car. Overall really great experience.
The location of the Hotel is great, the room was also lovely. Giannis is also a great host with lots of recommendations on what to do and how to get around Amorgos, he made us feel very welcome in the Island.
A very cute hotel that is steps from the bay. Rose pedals on bed at checkin. Clean and well organized room. Water provided and our room had a nice deck. The location is very quiet and no problems sleeping!
Ideal location of the hotel, less than a minute from the center of the port and very quiet at the same time. Beautiful room and very comfortable bed. Amazing breakfast which we took on the balcony.
The fabulous location, right in the centre of Katapola, the fabulous roof garden with amazing views. Our host came to meet us when our ferry arrived and was super helpful throughout the stay.
Run by lovely, friendly people, this hotel is close all the restaurants and the ferry port in Katapola. Great location, comfortable room, daily cleaning of the room.
beautiful view, so close to town and the family running the property is so friendly. I appreciate that they met us at the port and walked us to the hotel.
