The hotel is new, modern, and nice. Eventhough the room is small but it is well designed and we can stay very comfortably. There is coin washing machine+dryer available in the hotel. Walking distance to restaurants and convenient stores. Staffs are nice and accommodating.

Very cool facilities, beautiful area, and amazing host. He helped me find places to eat and visit. Even made me tea and other small gifts!

Nestled in the quiet pension village, the views, the facilities and most of all the staff service exceeded expectations. The owner also gave us a car ride till Kumamoto city.

I can only rate this place as 10/10. It's what you would expect from a Ryokan, and more. Specifically, i'd say two things are better than other great Ryokan, the onsen (private suites with windows that can be opened to "transform" the main room into a rotemburo at will) and the kaiseki dinner, where chu-toro, basashi and marbled beef were on the menu. Apart from an extensive sake menu. Other than that, the owners / team managing it are super nice and helpful. Perfect place to enjoy before/after an Aso trek.
Located amid nature at the base of Mount Aso, El Patio Ranch offers a retreat in a Western American theme, with horse-back riding, a Western goods shop and American barbecue.

We wanted to check out Kusasenrigahama, hike the Kuju Mountains and then go to Kurokawa Onsen Town, and this was the perfect spot for the first leg of our trip because it is so convenient to the Makinoto Pass Trailhead. The room itself is spacious and peaceful, with large windows overlooking green rolling hills. Beds are so comfy, including the duvet and cover. There was a long desk along the windows, great if you need to do some work or writing. The staff is great, and the western style of the restaurant and lobby is fun.
Hakusyu - Vacation STAY 11460v is located in Aso, just 26 miles from Kumamoto Castle and 26 miles from Suizenji Park.

My parents came to visit me from America. This was by far the best accommodation they booked for the trip. It was incredibly roomy and the beds were very comfortable (according to them). I highly recommend this house to anyone looking for accommodation in Aso. I will say that I don't know how convenient it is to get to by public transportation because I drove my car. You have a beautiful view of the mountains from the porch/front door. It's very quiet in the area. The house was incredibly clean and well-stocked (plenty of soap/shampoo, tea, and coffee).
Great views. Great trip. Only disappointment is the blue "lake" in Nakadake Crater. All the pictures show the "lake" while to my understanding it was destroyed during the 2016 earthquake. It was what drawn my attention to this location to begin with, so it was disappointing not seeing it. All these pictures should be replaced with what currently is there, not what used to be there.

Unfortunately access to the crater is still prohibited due to the risk of toxic gases, but the surrounding area is impressive. For those keen on a hard nature walk you can walk up the steep trail of the neighbouring peak and look down into the crater from there. Allow a good half a day or more to do this!
Amazing location being literally opposite the train station by walking. Couple minutes walk from 7/11.
Must be quite new? Considering the facilities/decor/modernity was 10/10. Loved room layout with the sliding partition door. Loved bathroom mirror setup (very clever). Absolutely spacious. (keep in mind i did pay for Standard King room)
Got the view of Mt Aso, except weather wasn't kind.
Shared kitchen/lounge area in lobby was beautiful too. Large shared dining table with charging ports.
I wished i stayed longer!
We arrived to Aso region in hopes to hike the mountain, but the weather wasn't very favourable. We did enjoy our room, and the private baths were amazing way to relax in the rain. We didn't have a car and there were not a lot of food options walkable from the inn. We also didn't realized to book the dinner well in advance. Would recommend making reservations for food in advance of your visit (there is a 7/11 which is a walking distance down the road). The breakfast was ample and delicious! Would stay again.
Jumping from 3 to 4 stars has been a great experience. I liked everything, especially dinner and breakfast. The classic japanese style room was pleasant and peaceful and the mountains view was gorgeous. The onsen is of course a plus and there is a shuttle to the train station. I don't see what could be better than this . Better to book half board because there is nothing nearby to provide food. Unless you have a car or book a taxi. An absolute awesome stay.
I feel a bit concern of resort quality by reading review from many sources. But it is over my expectation, resort is great with super value price. Resort is big with many facilities: hot springs, pool, restaurant, shop with great scenic of Aso mountain. Room is also great with restroom and bath inside (yes many hotel or ryokan have no bath include if they have onsen in public but with this hotel u have option for clean urself)
Location is the best - Mt. Aso view from the room window was super impressive. I love the public area too that the combination of Japanese and Western fireplace blended very well. Kitchenware is available to use, free coffee & tea to make.
There's a hot spring place in 3-5 mins walk that you could purchase a discount ticket 300 yen from the hostel (normal price is 400 yen), relaxing and highly recommended
Beautiful house with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay for several days. A real entertainer's home with nice little touches, like a charcoal burner room, kotatsu in the living room, guitar and entertainment system. There was also a washing machine, full bath, BBQ outside, and full kitchen with condiments. If I am in Mt Aso again I will stay here.
It was totally out of my surprise that a share-house can be this comfortable and clean. The place is much bigger and comfier than the other hotels we stayed during this trip. And the host was so nice that ask us about our trip the day after, and give us a lot of advice for how to visit Aso Volcano properly. It really feels like a home while we stayed there.
The location is easy to find by driving. The room is spacious and the hotel has the onsen bath. Breakfast spread is decent. There is no nearby convenient store within walking distance. The nearest one is at least about 2-3km away from the hotel. If you want dinner at the hotel, you need to make a reservation in advance before your stay.
We really enjoyed staying at this traditional Ryokan. The breakfasts and dinners were traditional Japanese cuisine served by very respectful waitresses. Its well located for Mt Aso. We had our own private onsen which was an excellent way to end the day. We highly recommend staying at Aso Tsuruya
Everything was clean and new. Even if in the middle of the nature, no insect found inside.
Good facilities with some goods provided (oil, salt, detergent, etc), so very convenient.
View on Mt Aso surroundings is enjoyable.
Close to combini, restaurants, gas station.
Our first time staying at a traditional Japanese inn. My daughter had done the research and chosen the spot. The location was amazing and I would definitely stay there again. The breakfast and onsen were fantastic!
very sizable traditional Japanese room with beautiful gardening and outdoors/indoors hot springs. The staff service are good but the hotel has rules with less flexibility.
