Our room was spacious. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of good food. It was not a long walk from the train and the bus station. We stayed in Shingu to visit places on the Kumano Kodo route and I am glad we stayed at the Hotel New Palace. I enjoyed the onsen. The yukata available in the lobby for wearing in the room and to the bath came in multiple sizes which was great for us as tall Americans. They had sizes that fit us.

I like this small home and I wished I stayed for a few more days. It's cozy and homey, I didn't meet the owners but just the small whiteboard during check-in felt very welcoming. It's clean with complete amenities, and there's a whole kitchen with stuff that you can eat or use. The room and the bed was already prepared, it was very comfortable. Also, there is an izakaya right in front called Kichi. It's easy to find, just look for the tanuki and they are open until late. Highly recommend that you try it if you're staying here.

We had a very nice stay here. The house has everything we needed and the host Koji-san was super kind. He picked us up from the station even though it would have only been an 11 minute walk and recommended local restaurants. It was pouring rain the next morning and we were happy to accept when he offered a ride back to the station.

-The owner is a monk who is super hospitable and friendly. He prepared lots of paper information about walking map and gourmet map for Shingu which helps a lot. -Guest could ask for Shodo (Japanese calligraphy) for free. After finished, it’s guest’s choice leaving Shodo in the temple or bringing it home. - It’s opening in Jan this year which is a new and clean hotel. I book one room and I have my own kitchen, toilet and shower. The beverage is all free they provides including water, tea, sake, soju and so on. - in the morning. Owner introduces temple’s history and details about the gods they worship. The temple was built up in Edo period and is well preserved which is incredible. - it’s only 10times walking from Shingu station which is not far away. Nearby are few local restaurants.

It was raining and we went there for a hike so there was nothing to do. It was kinda sad because we had to buy a ticket that is 10000 yen for a person and get a train ride for 3 and half hours. But the train ride gives you a great view so I guess it worth it.

It was the second time to visit Shingu.

It was the second time to visit Shingu. What I love the most of this town are Nature( Sea,Mountain), and very historical shrines. The hotel is Ok. Clean and nice, the location’s good as well. The restaurant, I strongly recomend very nice Italian restaurant “Osteria Trenta”. I could enjoyed very fresh sea foods, fabulous pasta, and very tasty grilled pork, wines as well. You must try!! 10 min from this hotel.
