Try to plan to be there on Saturday evening at 9pm to see the wonderful fireworks at the cathedral. Be there early. They only last 5 minutes but they're great.

A historical cultural center with many museums, pink stone Baroque architecture, many outdoor cafes, plazas, good food everywhere. A lively, rather sophisticated city indicative of its many colleges and universities. Spanish Catholic influences with a strong undertone of deep indigenous traditions. Outlying areas with ancient archeological sites and interesting artisan towns. Third largest lake in Mexico.

We enjoyed the main street, the park, the street performers, the aqueduct, the magnificent architectural tours available. We also loved to listen and dance to our favorite band, Musico Vocal Horus, which plays five nights a week at Onix restaurant.

This was not our first visit to Morelia, but it was our first visit since Covid. It is a gracious city with beautiful architecture. Coincidentally it was a holiday weekend, so the historical center was abuzz with activity. This was our first stop on our way to other destinations, but it is certainly not out last visit to Morelia or Michoacan.

Morelia was one of the most interesting and lovely cities I’ve visited in Mexico. We loved the zoo, spent 5 hours there, and were blown away by the gardens and the giraffe encounter. We walked many miles through the historic center, enjoyed restaurants, street performers, the scenery, the double-decker bus tour, and touring and photographing the interiors and exteriors of the many historic churches and cathedrals. We found people friendly to us as Americans, and we felt safe and welcome. Thank you, Morelia, for sharing your beauty, warmth, and culture with a couple of happy Americans!

I booked a day and a half for Morelia.
I booked a day and a half for Morelia. It was about half way on a longer trip I was making. I had always wanted to see its Cathedral, but didn't think there was much more. I couldn't have been more wrong! Within the first hour, I knew I'd have to go back! The Centro is amazing! The old Colonial buildings are still standing and modern life just exists within. My hotel left one wall uncovered...nothing like sleeping next to a wall from a city founded in the 1500s!! I spent the day touring 2 former convents, the childhood home of Morelos (for whom Morelia is named) and, of course the beautiful Cathedral. One highlight of many was watching the 'Old Man Dance' in the central plaza. I had seen the dance before in Santa Barbara, CA, but to see it where it originated was magical! I feasted on traditional mole, carnitas, corundas and uchepos and I attended a retelling of the Morelia legends. (Spoiler: Doña Fernanda is still wandering the streets at night looking for her lost daughter.) I saw a Nativity scene that filled an entire plaza and watched from my balcony as the entire town showed up for the lighting of their beloved Cathedral. All this and I barely ventured off the main street! I will definitely go back to this Pueblo Mágico!
Location is good.

I would pick another hotel should I return to Morelia.
Very quaint place in a very central location. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They offered coffee, orange juice and delicious cookies in the morning. The room was very comfortable, spacious and very clean. there was also a lovely common space outside the rooms with several table sets. We loved Morelia and would have stayed longer at this hotel if there had been a vacancy.
The ladies who worked the front desk were all so incredibly kind and accommodating. The hotel itself has so much character ! The room was spacious and immaculate. We were greeted with cold beverages, artisan soap and at our departure we were given some lovely gifts.
The location was ideal for walking to museums, restaurants and the central square.
Very peaceful & beautiful apartment. I have stayed in different places in Morelia. But this place was the best.! I felt like I was back home.! It’s a little far from the main Centro, but you can always get a Taxi or walk, if you love walking & exploring. Also the people that are in charge of the gates, can help you with the Taxi.
Beautiful, cozy and comfortable Hotel. Customer service is awesome... Breakfast is very good for $5.00 USD. Nice decoration and very comfortable beds!. Second time staying here, and it wont be last!
Short walk to main plaza, location is perfect... Very satisfied and so are my parents..
Beuatiful hotel with an amazing design in a center of the city. Excepcionaly friendly stuff, always helpful.
The room were spacious and clean. Recommended for families as well. Great restaurant downstairs.
If travelling again to Morelia, definitely this is our choice!
This is a nice colonial style hotel--rooms around a central courtyard--right in the centro historico. Our room was spacious and comfortable. Provided free parking was close by and easy to access. Nice staff. Lots of hot water for showers and good internet.
Good location, walking distance to everything you want to see or do in central Morelia. The mercado, the cathedral and central square, lots of restaurants nearby. Nice and quiet, comfortable bed. Kitchen available and opportunity to meet other guests.
My stay at Estancia Maria was incredible, I was well looked after, the staff were incredibly helpful & friendly, it's in a great location, very affordable & I will definitely choose Estancia Maria on my next visit to Morelia 10/10
I have stayed at this hotel several times before and this hotel is my preference in Morelia. The rooms, staff, location, dining is delicious, very courteous people. Expect to be there again later in the year
Wow! Amazing hotel right by the calzada and the acueducto-- one of the most magical places in Morelia. This location has some great restaurants and cafes nearby, as well as so much culture right outside!
Cantera 10 is a stunning historic hotel smack in the middle of Morelia. our room was a work of art with soaring ceilings, huge amounts of space and directly across from the cathedral.
The location of the property is excellent for exploring Centro Morelia. Our room was in the back so it was very quiet and night. The view from the 3rd floor restaurant is excellent
