The location is amazing, right by the wall. The gardens outside were gorgeous, a great place to have a drink after a day of wandering around the city. The room itself was spacious and had large windows overlooking the garden area; all in all, quite lovely in this regard.

Superb location, and exceptionally spacious luxury hotel with spa available free to guests
This hotel was exceptional in all respects and in our group stay was a class above the Paradors.
Breakfast was superb with an omelette chef and a massive array of fresh food to savour

Great location for trip to either or both fortresses. Very pleasant staff, though not English-speaking. Decent restaurant nearby, if the hotel restaurant is only functioning for breakfast.

The hotel is very well located in the town, it has excellent parking and great views out over the surrounding countryside.
I found the staff were very helpful in where to go & visit and provided annotated directions on a local map.
During my visit the restaurant wasn't open but there are plenty off options in the town

Off the beaten path, on the far East side of Portugal (nearly on the Spanish border). Friendly and interesting people, and interesting history to explore through castles, forts and a marvelous aqueduct.

Lots to see, so make sure you have comfortable clothing and shoes.
Like most Portugeus towns, it is very hilly with narrow streets and lots of steps.
Architecture is stunning and historic with plenty of stories of old.
More vegetarian/vegan restaurants would be a bonus.
The whole Alentejo region is a must-see when visiting this beautiful country.

Elvas is an historic old city with an amazing Roman aqueduct. The local restaurants were not catering for tourists and hardly anyone spoke English. We ate in the hotel which was good value in a lovely setting. We visited the British cemetery for the soldiers of the Peninsular War. The old town is is all cobblestone alleys and we kept getting lost but that was part of its charm.

This is a cool fort town on the Spanish border worth visiting. Great for practicing my Spanish and Portuguese. The old town is walkable and worth a day. Get a number of a local taxi service to explore the other two forts nearby, pick up groceries etc. Plan ahead of taking a comboio or autoexpresso as it's in a pretty remote location so you can't just catch a train out every 30 minutes like you can in Lisbon.
The region it is in, the Alentejo is also generally quite beautiful and it's worth taking a bus to Estremoz and the Evora if in the area.

A great small restaurant recommended by the Hotel was Mercato, is a perfect place to dine. Excellent service and food cooked to order with a lot of attention to quality and flavours.
Such an amazing place right in the heart of Elvas. This place is BIG and can accommodate many. Added plus, kitchen to cook meals. Highlight...the roof top balcony to view the city.
Oh, and, I loved the window seats!
The host was very friendly and we were gifted with a bolo cake and port wine 🍷
I would definitely suggest this place and if ever in Elvas again....I would rent here again.
Lovely location. Gorgeous house. Super staff. Nice breakfast. Beds sweet, but mattresses not good. Also, someone else’s air conditioner or other machine came on periodically throughout the night. The machine was on the terrace below our window. Periods of peace then periods of noise. A bit annoying. So not a good night. Otherwise, it was a super place to stay.
Hotel is an old estate house restored by the owners. Apart from the main building It has many little cute houses with apartments. The views and countryside around are beautiful. There are many walking options nearby. The owner is very helpful and informative. Breakfast was excellent. We stayed for a dinner, but we found it too rich.
Quinta da Fortaleza is an amazing place managed by the owner who is dedicated to make you feel comfortable and welcomed. The house is beautifully renovated with good taste and first quality material. Breakfast is delicious hardly to match somewhere else.
We regularly stay at this hotel. It is well run, has good staff and is well placed for the centre of the city which is a 10 minutes walk across the Roman Bridge. Also private underground parking which many hotels in the city lack.
Good value.
Stylish country house designed with loving care by the owner proprietors. Gardens and grounds well planned with an emphasis on ecology. Our large room was warm with the radiant heating. Dinner and breakfast were exceptional.
Excellent. Very clean, helpful staff, very new and in a kind design, super kitchen equipment, enough place in the room and also in other areas, perfect location, quite place. Till now the best stay in Portugal for me.
Great location, super clean, this small boutique hotel has very spacious nicely decorated rooms and great common spaces that make it very confortable. Staff very helpful and gave us good recomendations
Lovely peaceful hotel located right in the center of Elvas old town. The house is beautiful and big and the pool and garden are really nice. I very much enjoyed the breakfast.
I loved the staff. I loved the spaciousness and our beautiful terrace, where we watched sunsets with wine in the evening. The pool was refreshing. Great place. Great value.
Absolutely beautiful property in a restored and converted monastery. Impeccably designed and maintained. Friendly staff. Located in the charming village of Elvas.
The location and the surrounding nature.
The swimming pool in the hot days.
The night sky since the place is isolated and there is very little light polution.
Good quiet location, with lovely views and close to Elvas. Lovely owner, great breakfast and evening meal. Great for our dog. Will definitely stay again.
