Spectacular location in the middle of the Douro valley, the owner is incredibly friendly and helpful and is constantly running around doing her best to make her guests feel welcome. The wines are superb and I wish we could have brought some home!
Breakfast was good as well and the structure is nice and well maintained.
Sitting in 120 hectares of Douro Valley vineyards, this traditional manor house has been converted into Portugal’s first wine hotel.

Quinta Nova is an amazing experience and the location and views are outstanding, the staff were lovely, although language was sometimes a challenge, they may have been a little short staffed while we were there as we did have to wait a while when we ordered drinks a few times. The position and overall experience was wonderful.
The modern LBV House Hotel is inserted in the center of the Alto Douro wine region.

The hotel appears to be quite new, our room was very comfortable with a large balcony, and had a great view over Pinhao and the Douro river. Breakfast was good.

1) the location is super convenient for those travelling by car (there is a private parking), but also for those like us travelling without it - the train station is easily accessible by walking;
2) the views are stunning, especially from the living room where they serve breakfast;
3) the room was spacious and just adorable with big windows, a lot of light (and blackout curtains), a very comfortable bed and lovely terrace;
4) the owner organizes tours to their vineyards and a wine storage / mini-museum (on prior arrangement) and it is a must do even of it's the only thing you have time to do in Pinhaõ;
5) the breakfast is modest but everything is of high quality and it's difficult to stay hungry and again, the breakfast room is so adorable that it's pleasure to have breakfast there.
Located in a wine producing estate, on the right bank of Douro River, Quinta De La Rosa is a family owned property, 2 km from Pinhão. Rooms at this working vineyard are spread over several levels.

Wonderful View of the River and the valley from our room. Restaurant was very good. Also liked the Terrance restaurant wish it was open later.
Casa de Casal de Loivos offers intimate accommodation in a 17th-century manor house. It features an outdoor pool and a sun terrace, both providing stunning Douro Valley views.

Fantastic boutique hotel, with exceptional staff. Bernardo and Paulo are amazing hosts, and nothing is too much trouble. They truly want their guests to enjoy their stay and recommend places to visit and eat, etc. Special thanks to Carlos for looking after us for breakfast. The views from the hotel are jaw-dropping, photos on booking dot.com don't do it justice. We walked down to the village, be aware it's very steep in places, and then took a taxi back. We booked dinner at the hotel, which is served like a family meal with all guests sitting together. This was a great experience, and it was fantastic to socialise with travellers from all parts of the globe. Another night we had dinner at Bonfirm food and service were exceptional.
Situated in Pinhão, Hostel Douro Backpackers has a garden, shared lounge, terrace, and free WiFi throughout the property. Boasting a shared kitchen, this property also provides guests with a barbecue....

It is a small town in a beautiful setting. The solar boat ride was really nice - we went in the late afternoon when most of the boat traffic had settled down. There are at least four wineries where tasting is possible (although we didn't participate). We really enjoyed the restaurant Cozinha da Clara just outside of the village - they served the best pork we had ever eaten. The Vintage House has a lot of character and is a lovely place to stay.

Pinhao is a great town to based in Douro Valley.
Pinhao is a great town to based in Douro Valley. There are tons of wineries and restaurants on the town level to walk to and also up in the hills. You can come to Pinhao by train from Porto easily and then walk or take cabs to get to wineries. Don’t leave without taking a private or group boat trip for amazing scenery. If you take the train from Pinhao to,the last stop going east and then turn around and return to Pinhao this has beautiful views too. We loved staying at Casa do Casal de Loivos (it is up in the hills but a 10 euro cab ride will take you into town). The view from there are unmatched. We also loved staying one night at Casa De La Rosa, which has an amazing restaurant and beautiful terrace with a swimming pool. You can walk into Pinhao town from Casa De La Rosa so it is a convenient location.

I recommend staying at least a night at Douro hostel, a home away from home (and honestly the best hostel I've ever stayed in, more like a guest house). Staying a night will give you the time you need to explore the hills, vineyards. Make sure to pop into the local butcher for some incredible cured pork and cheese!

We drove to Pinhão.
We drove to Pinhão. The roads are slightly terrifying but the views are spectacular.
We were there in March so not everything was open. Best restaurant was Writers Place! The walking trails through the vineyards were fantastic!

The perfect spot to explore some of the lovely Quintas the Douro Valley has to offer. Would definitely recommend Pinhao as your base. We drove to Pinhao from Porto which was great for sight seeing and super easy. We visited the three Quintas that are within walking distance from Pinhao train station which were lovely. I’d recommend making a reservation in advance for dinners or lunch where possible. But we also did a few walk ins.

Pinhao is stunning. with good selection of restaurants in the evening. Beautiful wineries. As the wineries are built into cliffs the drive to Pinhao and around is not for the faint hearted. The roads are very narrow some without safety barriers. However if you can get past this it is worth it for the scenary. It is a sleepy village but everyone is so friendly. One or two days maximum is enough.
Photos don't do it justice. The view is beautiful, especially at night along the R Pinhao to the Douro from the many terraces and outside spaces. Plenty of space for 4 or even 6. Spotlessly clean, great to have a fridge of food and homegrown fruit provided plus the most delicious homemade port. Feels very spacious and Monica the owner sent somebody within minutes to fix an issue at the property. Pool is a real bonus. If you so desired you could abseil down to The Bridge - a great restaurant by the river directly below the house!!!
Our hostess Isabel and her family were wonderful. Very welcoming to make sure we were comfortable. Many special touches-soap, bathgel, coffee, water, cozy towels . The swimming pool terrace with sweeping views of the river and scenic landscape was a stunning surprise bonus. Best view in all of Pinhao. The family operates as a B&B with breakfast basket delivered. Isabel also turned on hot tub so we could soak and take in the starry night view. Apartment 2 is small but well organized. Accommodated 3 friends.
This was a clean and cosy house with a large private terrace that had absolutely spectacular views. The beds were comfortable and kitchen adequate for cooking simple meals. We did a 1 hour cruise along the Douro from the wharf at Pinhao which was so serene and a must to see the wine terraces from the water. We ate out at the Writers Place one night (pretty average food) and lunch at Veladouro (really good food).
We loved everything about this hotel. The location is spectacular, as are the views! We loved the balconies for reading and looking over the river. The pool was a lovely refreshing activity after hot hikes and wine tasting. The old building was charming, and we enjoyed some family game time in the Library Bar. The staff was helpful with anything we needed. The food was delicious (especially the breakfast!)
The property is lovely, and our room was huge, with it's own terrace and a gorgeous ensuite.
The breakfast was great - good choice, and in a cosy room with views and a balcony.
The host met us and was very helpful, finding and booking a restaurant that would cater for vegetarians for us, and advising us about transport to and from Pinhao (about a 15-20 minute walk).
Nothing. We weren’t able to stay there. The property in no accessible. My partner is handicapped and there was no parking on the property or on the street anywhere near the property. It’s NOT a three Starr property. The owned still hasn’t answered my emails. Very dissatisfied with this booking. We ended up stay at another hotel for the evening.
Arrived at the hostel not knowing what to expect and could not have been happier and more at ease. Pedro is so welcoming and hospitable. will let you know about all the hikes, events and restaurants to see in pinhao. (full of honest opinions!) he and his girlfriend really made my stay comfortable as a solo traveler. and I will definitely return.
Perfect place to stay in Pinhao, everything you need to stay in the douro, supermarket 2 minutes away, the river about 5 minutes.. be prepared for stairs, but if your going to the douro, steps & hills are everywhere!!! Lovely Breakfast delivered fresh every morning, check was easy without stress. Perfect stay.
The apartment is spacious and well equipped apart from a kettle to boil water for tea. It is simply decorated.
It is just up the hill from the main part of Pinhao and walking distance to cafes and supermarket.
Parking is in the street.
The view from the patio across the town and river to the hills opposite.
Location was great, the area was so beautiful! Staff were really friendly. I felt like the room and overall property were much prettier than the pictures on booking.com when we booked. The food at the restaurant was great and prices weren’t bad. Lovely quiet pool area. Very easy access to Pinhao
Just outside of Sinhao, Quinta de la Rosa sits on a Douro Valley hillside surrounded by vineyards and olive trees, and has a beautiful view of the Douro River below. The restaurant was excellent and we recommend reservations well in advance. Our stay was beyond expectations.
The staff we very welcoming, spent time to explain the top attractions and miradouras nearby, and provided a wonderful experience. The room was spacious and modern. The area was not far from the center of Pinhao, but far enough that it felt like a private estate.
Absolutely gorgeous setting, at the top of a hill outside Pinhao with terraced vineyards and amazing sunsets. The apartment was really roomy and comfortable and they left us a lot of food. The views were amazing and the drive up and down the mountain were fun.
Modern design with great parking and elevator. Facilities and fitting are modern. Great view of the Douro. Having a car is a big plus as the hotel is overlooking Pinhao on a steep hillside about a mile out of the town. Staff were excellent.
The apartment was perfect for our visit to Pinhao. It came generously supplied and thoughtfully decorated. The terrace provided a most spectacular setting for breakfast with incredible views of the Douro.
Wonderful being on a houseboat; small but comfortable; great staff; perfect location in Pinhão in Douro Valley; excellent communication with administrators; sumptuous breakfast included;
Perfect location. Isolated from the touristy places right outside. It was an oasis. I can not imagine staying anywhere else in Pinhao. It made the entire experience special.
