PIER BLUE INN Old Saybrook - Essex, hotel in Old Lyme

Ideally located off US Route 1, near I-95 in the city of Old Saybrook, Connecticut, Pier Blue Old Saybrook - Clinton is only a short distance from many attractions.

The location of this property was perfect. We were right in town, super close to the beach, easy to get an Uber to and from events. The staff was very kind as well. The woman at the front desk was very kind about our request for a different room. The manager offered to upgrade us to a bigger bed for free.

Copper Beech Inn, hotel in Old Lyme

Built in 1889, this hotel is located in the scenic Lower Connecticut River Valley, within the historic town of Essex. It features a restaurant and has elegant Victorian décor.

The setting is filled with trees, grasses and beautiful peonies. The Inn itself is a bit dark upon first entry but the dining rooms were beautiful and sunlit. Our room was exactly as pictured and the balcony was unexpected but a welcoming place to relax, drink some wine, and unwind.

Very Accommodating, friendly staff which bent over backwards to help us learn about the historic area. This inn is directly across the street from 2 painting galleries and of course, the Griswold Art Museum and gardens! The periwinkle ground cover and daffodils were all in bloom! Don't pass up this great place to stay.

    We enjoyed our stay.

We enjoyed our stay. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. Our rooms were lovely. Very large and cozy. The fireplace was wonderful. The food was great. My favorite part of our stay was the morning live jazz at breakfast. The owner was part band and it was a sweet touch. We were with 8 people and our stay could not have been better.

Charming town full of history and the connection to the American Impressionism group. While my purpose to be in the area was to enjoy the show at Ivoryton Playhouse, which is the oldest continuing summer theater ( now year round ), you can get to the shore easily. Old Saybrook, Westbrook, Niantic, Mystic, NewLondon etc…. Chester is wonderful to grab a delicious baked good! Only 40 mins from West Hartford too.

This town is interesting - a very fancy, small town.

This town is interesting - a very fancy, small town. The Florence Griswald Museum is beautiful and worth the trip. There are several art museums, and places to participate in lessons and actually create fine art. There are hiking trails, a great place for a massage, and a lot of charm. It is proximate the the water, and you can kayak or participate in boating. There are amazing biking trails. Old Lyme is worth a visit.

I was in town for the memorial service of a dear friend of 50 years so it was a sad time for me. The area is pristine! The countryside like a jewel yet so close to the main highway...a perfect location.

The key to the outside of the inn did not work and the number for the innkeeper was incorrect, so we were unable to get back in at night. My request for a vegan option for breakfast was not honored, even though it was confirmed by the inn prior to our arrival. The owner did not appear particularly sincere in his apologies. He did not portray a caring attitude. I would not recommend this inn to anyone.
