Very close to Charleroi airport, with shuttle provided by hotel to take us to airport and also pick us up on returning from holiday, it went perfectly both ways. Left car in private parking of hotel for 2 weeks (open air), felt safe enough as solid gate closed during night and plenty of CCTV. Hotel very modern and clean, definitely above its 2-star rating. Additional bonus: a lovely Italian restaurant within walking distance (12 min) for a relaxed evening meal. Absolutely perfect for spending the night before an early flight (even not so early in our case, but we did not want to drive from Brussels to Charleroi in the monday morning rush hour).
Hotel ibis Charleroi Gare offers modern rooms in the city centre only 50 metres from Charleroi-South Train Station. It benefits from a 24-hour bar, secured private parking and free high-speed WiFi.

I travelled withy mother and we were really looked after. We got picked up and brought back from airport when required, with a smile! The host is kind and enthusiastic. We sleplt beautifully, in a very comfy, clean bedroom.
Set a 10-minute drive from Brussels South Charleroi Airport in the charming village of Fleurus, the ibis Charleroi Aéroport offers functional accommodation and a bar.

Nice little town with good food in the centre. We enter a random boulangerie with restaurant and it was great with lots of vegan and very delicious options but with a great non vegan variety as well. It’s a pity I do not remember the name of the place…

It felt very unsafe, even for Sunday, in the city center. We haven't seen any police or other public servants anywhere, the city is filled with people of all types and mainly poor people asking for money. Also, you could smell weed everywhere and rubbish. Broken bottles on the sidewalk, urine smell and a bad feel about the whole place. This is the city center. The whole impression is of a decaying city, unsafe and not that tourist friendly. Will probably never return.

the city is under construction works (obviously to have a better face in the future) but it doesn't seem the safest place to wonder on the streets..a lot of digging and broken streets due to the renovation works in the whole city..i wouldn't spend more than a day here

The town is well located for day trips to Bruxelles, Brugge and Luxembourg. Town itself has many little cafés and restaurants as well as popular chains. A nice warm shopping mall in the center. Extensive redevelopment going on everywhere (railway station and road junctions). Palais de Beaux Arts seemed firmly closed when I visited (a Saturday in January) despite many posters advertising it. I will come back, but when it's warmer.

The Charleroi is cozy small town with good restaurants (like Cafe Le Luxembourg).
Good point for accomodation and place near to Brussel (only 1 hour to Brussel centre by car or train) if you are planning to visit the capital city.
Good architecture and place for walk.

We had stayed in Charleroi many years ago, and found big changes. The bus Station at Charleroi Sud (now known as Charleroi Central is now very big) and is still under construction. Once finished the area will be lovely. There are lots of competitively priced accommodations to choose from. The public transport system is excellent from trams to buses to trains. Everyone is very friendly and going at Christmas was special. A couple of Christmas markets to see and the ice rink looked good fun. Since we last visited - several years ago - a shopping centre has been opened which has many shops to visit. It was decorated beautifully for Christmas - was lovely and warm and catered for everyone. I would say don’t use use Charleroi for passing through, spend at least a day and enjoy what it has to offer. We are locally and found the food very good and varied.
Room very good compare to similar other hotels. Toilets very good compare to similar hotels. Soundprof good considering that it is close to the airport. You bearly listen any plane noise. Breakfast in general good - it is a buffet and it has pretty much what a buffet and a person need for breakfast. For 15 euro it was ok. Free parking for the days you stay- very convenient. 5-7 mins driving from the airport Charleroi. 5-7 mins driving far from a large shoping centre in general good value for money.
If you are flying from Charleroi Airport and you want to make sure you'll make your flight, it is good... because you can even walk the distance (its quite a walk, but nevertheless doable). They also offer a shuttle service. The place is clean and the owner seems keen on keeping it that way, with a locking front door and strict policy on visitors to the hotel. We had some issues at first, but after talks with the owner it was all sorted respectfully. They seem nice.
My go-to place for early morning flights out of Charleroi Airport. The location is really convenient - it is only a 5-minute walk from the railway station and the bus stop for the airport shuttle. The facilities are clean, however, don't forget to bring your own soap and towel. There are cookies, fruits and hot&soft drinks for those, who depart before breakfast is served (prior to 7 a.m.). The main breakfast is very simple, but it's a nice touch anyway.
great location, directly opposite the train station and bus station. with buses running to and from the airport starting at 4:30am for €6. return train to Brussels by train was €19. great location to the Charleroi Christmas markets too, a couple of minutes walk. shopping centre within 30 yards of the hostel. Staff very friendly and helpful, and rooms and facilities very clean. I’ve stayed it hotels a lot worse than this. 10/10
Novotel is right above a shopping center which is great! Parking comes with the hotel and is right underneath the shopping center. Also you getting to pay only half of the ticket for the first night at least. Staff was very kind and friendly. We stayed only one night though. You don't really need a car since the hotel is in a center and surrounded from cafe's and restaurants. So this was really convenient.
Basic room, but very clean, and with everything needed, ideal location for early flight from Charleroi, free parking till return flight and free shuttle to the airport. Friendly people at reception and very good suggestion from staff about evening meal at italian restaurant with excellent food not far from hotel. Much better than we did expected.
We are Dutch and booked a RyanAir-flight from Brussels-South/Charleroi. The day before we stayed at the castle. Highly recommended! Philippe brought us to the airport (6 min. drive) and picked us up. Our car stayed at the hotel. We will return. :-)
Breakfast was really good!
Note that you can’t go to the hotel by foot - it is quite far from the airport and only one pedestrian exit from the airport is open now. A receptionist picked us up from the airport (10 euro) and dropped off at Charleroi Sud next day (15 euro). Thanks!
Location is perfect for those who’s further journey goes through Charleroi airport , train/bus station located just right next to the hotel , nice bar & wending machine inside & a lovely view from suites
Amazing space, room (we had the suite) was beautifully furnished and large, the hotel had additional spaces to roam and play (snooker/fireplace/ chess etc) and so close to the airport. An 8 minute drive!
Good location near the airport. Walking distance if needed. A well enclosed and safe parking. Reasonable good breakfast. Nothing out of the ordinary, as you would expect from an Ibis hotel.
The room size and hotel location is good for spending the night before traveling from CharleRoi airport. The room was clean and comfortable, not the fancy type. Staff were helpful and nice.
