Ypres has something for everyone. The restaurants have a variety of culinary options for every taste. Bars are friendly and comfortable with indoor and outdoor seating for drinks, a coffee, snacks or meals. Bicycles for hire mechanical or electric allow a visitor access to the countryside free from traffic and ease of viewing around the town. Tourist information in the Cloth Hall are very helpful and friendly. The historical buildings and the green environment really add towards an air of peace. A special treat is a walk along the town walls. Parking in the Market Square is not a problem nor overnight parking either. Don’t park in the Square on Friday night as there is a Market on Saturday and your car will be towed away. Shopping is a delight with supermarket, chocolate, books, fair trade and clothing all within walking distance of the Square. If Commemoration is part of your visit the Menin Gate Last Post ceremony each evening at 8 p.m. is very moving and an experience different from all others. Ypres is a gateway to Flanders: its people, its green environment, cycle paths, surrounding historical monuments with visitor centres throughout the countryside and its delicious foods.

We were a group of friends, we visited local war graves and stayed for the Last Post at the Menin Gate, which was well done and very respectful (although you need to get there at least 1 hour before the service to see anything). We do intend to visit again to explore the region further.

Ieper (Ypres) is an ideal base for exploring WW1 sites & cemetaries. The historic Cloth Hall contains an impressive museum and if you go it's worth paying the extra few euros to climb the 230 steps to the top of the bell tower. The views of the city are impressive from here.
The Last Post Ceremony every night at 8 pm is a moving and thought provoking tribute. It's a must if you can make it.

Ieper holds a horrendous history when it comes down to the tragic loss of life.
But on the other hand it has a sense of peace when you walk around.
The battles took place 108 years ago, so its good that there are still preserved sites to visit that this is never forgotten.

Ypres is a wonderful experience.
Ypres is a wonderful experience. Visit Menin Gate at 8pm each evening and hear the last post played for the fallen of the Great War.
On a Monday most shops and all restaurants and museums are closed.
The Hotel is within just over 1hrs drive from the tunnel in Calais, it has ample secure parking on site at the hotel, lots of WW1 exhibits within the hotels reception area and a first class service from start to finish, I’ve stayed at the hotel when I’ve been on my motorcycle and car, and the hotel staff are always very accommodating no matter what you need. it’s within an easy a ten mins walk to the center of Ypres and the Menin Gate , full marks for breakfast be that cooked or buffet, I can’t say enough how good this hotel is
We had an exceptionally large room within the new build which is separate to the older main building. Really appreciated the additional space as often "family rooms" are just double rooms with an additional bed squeezed in. The breakfast was nothing fancy but what was there was good and there was plenty of it. Staff were all incredibly helpful. The Theme Park behind the hotel was well worth the visit and we spent a whole day there with a very happy 11-year old. Hotel was a 5-10 minute drive from the centre of Ypres.
Fantastic bnb that you can explore Ypres from by foot! Close to the bus station and main centre of town. Owners are very friendly and The entire premises was clean and well maintained. The room felt like a hotel and was incredibly comfortable. The host also offered plenty of information on what to see and do in town and how to get around. The breakfast spread was fantastic!
The hotel has nice family-run feel. The room was recently refurbished and spotless. Breakfast was good and had wide choice. The restaurant served typical Belgian food and was good addition since there are not other restaurants within a walking-distance. The hotel is within an easy ride to all the major sights and the complimentary parking is an excellent bonus.
Low price for the centre of Ypres, but very tired around the edges. Also, on a Friday night, the market square was very noisy. Hotel owners obviously can't change that, but something to be aware of. Top floor rooms had limited roof height and were fairly cramped. Receptionist was friendly. Could be more, but obviously catering to a price.
This refurbished hotel is in a superb location in the lovely town of Ypres. Good shops, bars and restaurants are all with easy reach. The rooms are well furnished and comfortable, and the breakfast was excellent, with good coffee, a wide choice of meats and cheeses, plus hot food too
Fabulous house. Well equipped. Beautifully presented and spotlessly clean. The spa bath and sauna are a great bonus. Location is an easy walk from the Grote Market Square. We've visited Ypres a number of times and this is the best accommodation we've stayed in by some distance.
Elodie is the hotel owner and was very friendly and efficient. The rooms were artfully decorated, comfy and clean. The breakfast was delicious with lots of options. We had a great visit at the Main Street Hotel. The location was a short walk from all the sights to see in Ypres.
The location was amazing, within walking distance of market square and other attractions. Parking was close and free. the bedrooms were beautifully kept and comfortable. Most of all I appreciated all the little touches that went into making the stay convenient and comfortable.
Apartment was lovely, much better than I expected from the photos. It was spacious and clean. Karin and her husband were very accommodating and quick to communicate. The location itself is right in the centre of Ieper, a beautiful charming town.
Lovely room overlooking the Cloth Hall, newly refurbished throughout. Great breakfast buffet, hot and cold food. Can't fault the location! Our favourite Ypres hotel, staying here for many years when visiting.
This is our first choice of hotel when visiting Ypres, the proximity to the market place, Menin Gate and the outstanding Captain Cook restaurant is ideal. Can’t fault the hotel - and the breakfast is good too!
Beautiful hotel, very quiet location with just a short walk to the Market Square. Very helpful and friendly staff, good food and value for money. Excellent display feature in the foyer. Exceptionally clean
Hostess was friendly and helpful.
The hotel is close to the Menen Gate and town centre so it was easy to walk around Ypres from there.
Happy to recommend the Ambrosia Hotel to anyone visiting the area.
