Neckarsteinach is a beautful town on the Neckar River.
Neckarsteinach is a beautful town on the Neckar River. Heidelberg gets all the press but Neckarsteinach (for me anyway) is a much more desireable location. Also, it has four castles/fortresses!PaulUnited States of America - 8.0Scored 8.0

There are many attractive villages along the river Neckar, with castles up in the hills. Ideal for hiking and riding your bycicle along the river. This village has 4 castles, some of them still in private hands. Neckarsteinach is not the most attractive village in the area, it's a bit dusty and messy, but a good starting point for visits in the vicinity. My advise: Dilsberg ( a small village up in the hills), Bad Wimpfen, and of course Heidelberg.
