The hotel was very clean, quiet and perfectly located. The staff were friendly and graciously provided assistance when needed. Laundry facilities were available with ample space to hang wet clothes on the terrace. The room was small but perfect for 2 people. We were lucky enough to be there for the street market and ate fresh pulpo for lunch.

AMAZING!! I highly recommend PortoHouse. The owner is wonderful and the home is perfect! The bed was so comfortable. We didn’t want to leave. The kitchen has everything you need and the laundry area was a bonus. This is the perfect place.

There's a very interesting story about the current Portomarin that would make a visitor want to go around and see the city, it's historical landmarks and surrounding areas.

A small town on the Camino de Santiago - and anyone who’s walked The Way will know what that implies. Much of the economy of places like this, especially in catering and accommodation, is geared to servicing Camino pilgrims. Consequently there are albergues and pilgrim menus (pilgrim menu norm seems to be around €14 at present, still fair value) aplenty but by 10 p.m., and outside the Camino “walking season”, lots of places are closed. So, not perhaps the ideal place for nightclubbers. Having said that we enjoyed our stay, it’s a pretty place with great views but not a great deal of history on show - the original village having been swallowed up by the creation of a dam lake. The church was rescued and moved up the hill to its present location in the town centre brick by brick. It’s interesting to be able to just see the numbers painted on the masonry that ensured every block went in the right place. One heck of a jigsaw!

Portomarin is a very beautiful tiny little town right on the Camino de Santiago. It has a few beautiful churches and the town itself is on the banks of a river which makes it very picturesque. It is quiet and small, except for the pilgrims and that makes it very quaint.

Friendly staff provided excellent communication.
Friendly staff provided excellent communication. Could speak perfect English, which is rare in the in this area. Facilities, while basic, was perfect and spotless. Had the best nights sleep in a long time. Bed was so comfortable. Bag collection service operates from here also, which was a bonus. There is a lovely bar/restaurant literally yard away that had very reasonable menu. Price was very reasonable.I was very pleased with my choice.

Portomarin was just a rip off for all the pilgrims walking the Camino. It seems as if the whole town is just there to milk as much from the tourists as possible. We went for lunch into a bar and ordered drinks, never got any tapas like the other locals sitting there. Went out for Dinner and chose the Pergrinos Menu which was horrific food! A beef stew which consisted of 3pieces of beef and some reheated old potato chips! My Bolognaise was condensed Tomato Sauce with undercooked packet Pasta. The chef should be fired for even thinking that Menu was acceptable. But it seems like they don't care because they know you're only there for 1 night! I would never return to Portomarin!
THe hostel is close to the centre of Portomarin, where you can find restaurants and supermarket. The host is very lovely and helpful. There were only 2 of us in the room, so it was good. The room has its own terrace, where you can dry your clothes. I was there in winter and it was warm inside which is not so common at camino. There is also a kitchen with a coffee machine and the restroom, which is super clean as the host clean it several times a day. It was a lovely stay.
The property is very modern. It is well-run and spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable and I had a great night’s sleep. The breakfast offering was plentiful with lots of choices, including cereals, which has been lacking at other, higher star-rated hotels. The location is perfect for the weary traveller. I was given a very warm welcome, which always goes a long way after a hard day’s walking. The staff were very efficient and very patient.
Central location in Portomarin, nice and quiet in the evening but still convenient to shopping and historical sites (and the Camino route the next morning). Louisa and her mother were both incredibly friendly and had good recommendations for the local area. The pension is right across the street from an excellent small cafe and wine bar. I especially appreciated the spacious outdoor deck for washing clothes and line-drying!
Excellent value for the room. Breakfast was also very good with a very good price. The selection for breakfast was just perfect for me. I was so grateful for the hotel helping me after I forgot something in my room. The hotel helped me retrieve it, sending it to me by taxi saving myself from replacing something that would have been very difficult.
The owner of the hotel was very enthusiastic and introduced us to the restaurants with delicious food and beautiful scenery in the town, which was very considerate. The location of the hotel is very good and the garden is beautiful.Although there were two families staying at the hotel at the same time, I could barely hear the other travelers.
The place was very spacious, would be perfect for a family traveling. I booked it alone, as there were no other pet-friendly accommodations available in Portomarin and was pleasantly surprised by the convenient location, easy access to get in, and yard to relax in with my dog after a long day on the camino.
The duty manager was incredibly friendly; she not only provided amazing restaurant recommendations but also made us feel genuinely looked after. The hotel's prime location at the town entrance, coupled with its modern and clean ambiance, added the perfect touch to our stay.
Great panoramic view of Portomarin. This albergue has everything and they even allowed me to have the room just for myself. The shared kitchen/bathroom/toilet is just perfect.
The food was fine, the staff fine, the location between Portomarin and Palas de Rei was good for me. I was happy to arrive there after walking in the rain for a while!
The host was excellent. The hotel was beautiful in every way including a great room; bar and dining area. We sat on the patio and had a drink and the view was great.
