Fascinating place, great place to wander around and take in all the tiny streets. We didn't have time to go into any museums or cathedral but still enjoyed our visit in the evening and the following day. We arrived on Easter Sunday and expected to find most eating places closed (which they were) - so would plan carefully if arriving on a Sunday evening

We loved this town - it was historic but had a modern part too. Easy to wander around. We randomly booked it as a stop over to recover from a long flight from Auckland to Paris on our way south. We were wonderfully surprised. Included an easy day trip to Chambord.

Beautiful city so much to see just roaming the streets you get the feel of times gone past.
The roads are steep in places and there a lots of flights of steps.
but it is so lovely you loose time so you do not realise how far you are going.
The cathedral is amazing some of the best windows I have ever seen.
There are quite a few places to sit and eat and prices were pretty reasonable.
We traveled into the city by bus which was cheap and frequent.
but after a full morning we thought we may get a taxi back
Don't try and get a taxi at lunch time they are non existent.
We waited 40 mins at the station along with 4 other couples all having phoned for a cab.

Bourges exceded our expectations for a short stay.
Bourges exceded our expectations for a short stay. Our trip coincided with annual music festival which meant the town was busy and vibrant. Most venues were open even though it was early in the season. Old town is accessible on foot. Impressive cathedral. Lots of food options. Had pizza at La Scala, good food, reasonably priced. We learnt that Bourges was once the capital of France. Well worth a visit.

Perfect for stopover halfway down France. Restaurants in vicinity were great, unless you are a vegetarian, (but it's France). Great choices for breakfast, great coffee, cereals, fresh bread and croissants, yoghurt, crepes, fresh fruits, boil your own eggs - what fun!

From the lovingly landscaped property (with its colorful and whimsical sculptures), to the impeccably decorated and sublimely comfortable home (with its tastefully eclectic mix of 19th and mid-20th century charms), my husband and I were delighted with our stay at L’Oustal. The hosts were gracious and welcoming. Breakfasts were expertly prepared, conversation with other guests was friendly and spirited, and the city of Bourges proved to be a hidden gem. We enjoyed our stay immensely.
Loved everything about this property. Owner Magalie was so responsive to our questions in the planning phase, and made our stay so special. This was a very unique stay in a beautifully appointed 19th-century manor house. The historic center of Bourges was an easy 10-minute drive from the property, and Magalie recommended a wonderful dinner location (Les Petits Plats du Bourbon) which turned out to be our favorite dining experience during our entire time in France!
The hotel is very well situated in the historical center of bourgeois. The hotel of the 12th century is restored in good tast and our room on the top floor was marvelous. Nearly like a cosy and small catedral with the original wooden beams in sight. The staff is very friendly and helpful. All in all this is the place to stay in Bourges.
Large house with many bedrooms
Big kitchen
Large backyard with swimming pool
Convenient for overnight stay during travel from NL to south of France

Nice retro collection of radio’s and other electrical equipment
Availability of baby bed
Close to highway
Bourges is a very nice city to visit
Room was excellent. We did not eat at the Hotel because we had limited time and wanted to see Bourges, but the Restaurant looked excellent and and was unusual as it is located in what once must have been a grand room of some sort. Parking right on site. Great location to walk to the old town.
Bourges is a lovely walkable city. The history and cathedral are interesting. We rented a car and drove out Sancerre to visit Chambord Castle where we had a picnic lunch, bought Chavignol goat cheese at Dubois Boulay and visited Crochet winery and bought 2 bottles.
Lovely family run hotel who were very accommodating to us and our two young children after a very long drive. Room was very clean and staff were really nice. Good stop over point on the way back up from the South of France
We four family members were given adjacent rooms with a connecting door. Dinner and breakfast were enjoyable. Convenient parking and location to break the journey travelling across France.
The buffet for diner was super. And a great house wine. We stayed here on our way to Spain but on the way back we also came back to Novotel Bourges. Great!
