Staines was close to the attractions we wished to visit (Legoland and Chessington) and had a range of takeaways, restaurants and shops near to our accommodation. Parking was available locally and it made a good base for travel.

Well located for access to from M25/M3/Heathrow. It was a good base for a 2 day visit to Windsor & then Twickenham. Trains run regularly to both. Town was well facilitated with shops, food outlets both major and independent businesses

We stayed in Staines because it's close to Windsor and we were visiting the castle. The view of the river Thames from our hotel (The Swan) was lovely. It was interesting to watch so many different boats, kayaks and barges passing by. Hotel has lovely views right on River Thames. Staines Town shops are poor. Plenty of eateries everywhere. Interesting buildings if you look for them, but shopping is going downhill fast. I used to live here & notice the difference. If you love the river, you will like Staines-upon-Thames & you can walk a long way on the path.
