This pension is situated on the edge of the village and is very quiet. A pleasant walk through the village, out the other side then down a very steep and beautiful path will take you to Stat Vehlen, which is a pretty little town on the Elbe with a ferry across to the station. The path certainly keeps you fit on the return journey. The room was commodious, the bathroom equally so. Facilities in the room were good, but basic, to make hot drinks or get a beer, guests have access to the kitchen area through a different door. Breakfast was very good, a boiled egg awaits you when you sit down, there is the usual collection of meats and cheeses, yoghurt, bread, fresh fruit and so on. I really liked it.

Great location, perfect for exploring with the magical woodlands just around the corner and Bastei at the end of one of the walkingtrails. Very hospitable and all around nice host with great advice for what to do and see. Lovely breakfast and a la carte dishes! Nice comfortable and clean rooms. We'd love to come back!

It is delicious rooms just in the middle of forest, wirh superb comfortable rooms, nice bathroom and very tasty breakfast! Sobgood resting places in the yard of hotel!

This is not so much a pension as a self-catering apartment on a considerable scale. Largely open-plan, it has a walled off king-size-bed, a dining area and kitchen/living room along with a generous walk-in shower room. The fridge was supplied with a bottle of fizzy mineral water, a small bottle of fizzy white wine and a bottle of beer, gratis. Everything was clean, quite new and easy to use. The wi-fi was efficient. Walking from Stat Wehlen station involves a very steep, but picturesque climb up 250 steps and stiff slopes to get to the top of the Elbe valley; once up it is a pleasant couple of miles through a small town and rolling countryside.

Fantastic place Kurort Rathen, nice pension with excellent location - near the ferry and railway station, comfortable room, very tasty and rich breakfast, fine staff. Bonus is the free entrance to the Eisenbahnwelten - park with moving train models, that is interesting not only for kids but also to adults.
