The history of Bergen and the way the harbor looks are best understood if you take a walking tour. They are short (1.5 hours) and inexpensive and will give you a rich view of what you are really looking at and what it was like.

If you do come to Bergen, this is a Must see to understand a bit more about the historical culture of the place. The museum is small, not a big place. The way to expose the different archeological pieces is very aesthetical, and this is very enjoyable. The different forms of hanseatic writings is interesting to see and can be fun for children and teens.
