Without a doubt this was the most amazing place we stayed in our entire trip to Austria. The employees are pleasant, kind and ready to help in everything. The room is large, spacious, decorated and equipped. The food at breakfast was above and beyond any expectation, so much variety, you could even order an egg according to your preference (scrambled, eye). Of course, the location of the hotel is breathtaking, among all the vineyards and nature, the silence and beauty do not leave much room for words. We loved everything and would stay there even more!

Located in Mautern on the southern bank of the Danube, only 2 km from Krems, the Nikolaihof offers very spacious, classically equipped rooms with panoramic views over the Wachau Valley. The location was ideal for our activity, cycling the River Danube between Passau and Vienna stopping at small hotels en route. We hadn’t realised the hotel owner had embraced an ethos around bio sustainability, local produce and services but were pleased to have the experience of our stay. The buffet breakfast was one of the best on our trip and consisted very good quality produce. The hotel owner recommended a local restaurant, making no secret of the fact it was part of the vineyard operation owned and run by her family and it too was a truly excellent experience. The owner and staff were a delight to deal with.

The most amazing feature is its restaurant. The meal we had there is simply the best during our three-week trips around four countries. You also need to try the wine from their own vineyard. People from Vienna come here often just for a meal. Excellent!
