Lowthwaite B&B enjoys a location in Watermillock, 8.2 miles from Askham Hall and 15 miles from Derwentwater. This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking. We had a wonderful stay. The whole place is quite romantic and relaxed. Decoration is very good and has a bit of history, that the host will tell you about. The bedroom has a bathroom (with a big bathtub) and another one with just a toilet, a small living room with TV and sofas, and a room with two twin bed, that they kindly displayed together since we were a couple. Toiletries, towels and bathrobes were provided and good quality. Everything was quite clean. The place is very quiet, no noise whatsoever and quite close to Ullswater. The hosts were amazing, giving us plenty of suggestions of what to do around the area, they respect your privacy while being completely available. You have a place to park easily, and the hosts gave accurate directions. Honestly my favourite part was the breakfast which was excellent!! Probably the best breakfast I ever had on a hotel/BB! Everything was very fresh and made with excellent ingredients - you have a time slot and let them know what you want in advance (you have several options) and they will cook in for that time, so everything is fresh and warm. We were very glad we chose this place and would definitely stay again.
Patterdale
Housed in a historic building, the recently renovated Crookabeck B&B provides accommodations with a terrace and free Wifi. Excellent food, incredibly friendly and warm hosts. Everything was spotless, the bathroom was spacious and the water pressure divine. The hosts had an excellent attention to detail and care. We also got a locally made wool blanket and socks from the shop on the property. Those are now my all time favorite socks thanks to the beautifully soft and fluffy wool.

Glenridding
I had a couple of days in Glenridding to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and the main event was climbing Helvellyn. It was great to be able to walk straight out of the hotel and start our ascent pretty much from the doorstep. The proximity to the Ullswater steamer was also a plus. The hotel is clean and comfortable and we had a very good meal in the bar on our first night. Like so much of the hospitality industry the hotel was struggling with staff shortages but the service was unfailingly friendly and professional.
Pooley Bridge
First rate hotel/pub in a very good location close to Ullswater. Plenty of free parking, The room was immaculately clean and with a very comfy bed and good shower and facilities. We had our evening meal at the location and it was excellent both in quality and value. Our breakfast which was included was really nice and very filling. I would highly recommend this location for a break in the lakes. Very friendly host and staff who couldn't do enough for for you.

The food is of very high quality and the service is excellent. There isn't anything I can fault. We will definitely be returning. It's the staff that give it a wonderful ambience; they are so lovely.
We enjoyed our stay at Patterdale Hotel, particularly having a room with a view! The atmosphere was very welcoming and relaxed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and the restaurant menu was great value for money. The position of the hotel for immediate access to walks with fantastic views across Ullswater. Unexpected Saturday evening entertainment was an enjoyable bonus.
