We wanted to check out Kusasenrigahama, hike the Kuju Mountains and then go to Kurokawa Onsen Town, and this was the perfect spot for the first leg of our trip because it is so convenient to the Makinoto Pass Trailhead. The room itself is spacious and peaceful, with large windows overlooking green rolling hills. Beds are so comfy, including the duvet and cover. There was a long desk along the windows, great if you need to do some work or writing. The staff is great, and the western style of the restaurant and lobby is fun.
阿蘇び心 Asobi Gokoro in Aso provides accommodations with a garden and a terrace. The air-conditioned accommodations are 20 miles from Egao Kenko Stadium Kumamoto.

Every thing. The property is well taken care. The owner provided everything we need. All facilities are in good condition. Despite that we do not understand Japanese, the owner has a translation note in English on most of the equipment.

My parents came to visit me from America. This was by far the best accommodation they booked for the trip. It was incredibly roomy and the beds were very comfortable (according to them). I highly recommend this house to anyone looking for accommodation in Aso. I will say that I don't know how convenient it is to get to by public transportation because I drove my car. You have a beautiful view of the mountains from the porch/front door. It's very quiet in the area. The house was incredibly clean and well-stocked (plenty of soap/shampoo, tea, and coffee).
Great views. Great trip. Only disappointment is the blue "lake" in Nakadake Crater. All the pictures show the "lake" while to my understanding it was destroyed during the 2016 earthquake. It was what drawn my attention to this location to begin with, so it was disappointing not seeing it. All these pictures should be replaced with what currently is there, not what used to be there.

Unfortunately access to the crater is still prohibited due to the risk of toxic gases, but the surrounding area is impressive. For those keen on a hard nature walk you can walk up the steep trail of the neighbouring peak and look down into the crater from there. Allow a good half a day or more to do this!
It was a lovely traditional Japanese style hotel.
Especially, it was super awesome to be able to reserve the room with the private hot springs in the balcony.
It was not cheap, but it was definitely worth paying for as my wife and I could get into hot springs at any time we wanted.
The staff was very polite, and the room was comfortable.
It was nice to be able to choose different designs of yukata lobe.
The breakfast buffet was very nice as it had many different varieties of food.
We highly recommend to experience this beautiful place.
El Patio is in a beautiful part of Aso National Park and the room had an amazing view. It’s quiet and feels connected to the environment. The horses and the stables gave the whole place a rustic and Western vibe. The food was warm and hearty, perfect for cold winter nights. The staff were so kind and helpful, they were worried my rental car did not have winter tires (I stayed during a snow storm) and went to lengths notifying me in advance and making sure I would be safe driving on the roads.
The house is a beautiful traditional Japanese house with a shared onsen bath and a private one that you can book for free. The room is clean and cozy with a window looking out to a Japanese garden. Food was exceptional! We were served homemade miso soup and home grown rice which were absolutely delicious. The meals also include many local ingredients and dishes like horse meat, local beef, trout and seasonal veggies. Highly recommended if you want a traditional ryokan experience 👍
food for both dinner and breakfast were great. the hotel also checked in with us beforehand if we eat horse meat, and it can be switched to other types of meat (e.g. beef) if one does not consume horse meat.
room was a good size and comfy, there was a toilet and shower in the room. there are 2 private onsens available for use, can book the timeslot you want when you check in, one room was only entitled to reserve one timeslot per night's stay, each timeslot is 45min.
The room was spacious for a dormitory type, we were very comfortable during our stay. The room and the whole place feels cozy and felt like you're actually in your own home. It's a wonderful place to stay in Aso which is conveniently located near the station and the place is very clean as well. The staff were great and helpful too! I would stay there again of I ever come back to Aso.
It was totally out of my surprise that a share-house can be this comfortable and clean. The place is much bigger and comfier than the other hotels we stayed during this trip. And the host was so nice that ask us about our trip the day after, and give us a lot of advice for how to visit Aso Volcano properly. It really feels like a home while we stayed there.
Quaint inn with plenty of history and character, and good value. Facilities were well maintained, clean, and comfortable. Staff and owner were attentive and extremely helpful. The hotel helped us to book our dinner reservations at Umekura which is a must-visit restaurant in the region. Food at this inn was also very tasty and good.
3 mins walk to Aso station, easily accessible location. love the common area with kitchen in homey design and traditional Japanese style.
clean and tidy shared bathroom and toilets.
lots of sightseeing informations provided in common area.
Recommend to buy discounted coupon for onsen nearby!
I really wasn’t sure about my booking when U got off the quick train ride from Aso Station but once I went inside and was warmly greeted I knew I had made a good choice. The facility is clean, the food plentiful and delicious, and really everything else was just great. I very much enjoyed my stay.
Loved the location. The host was very kind, with many kind gifts and attentions for the guests. We loved the discounted tickets for the Onsen closeby and all the advices on what to do on a rainy day on Aso.
Everything is very clean.
Futon beds were quite comfortable.
Excellent! The hot spring is good. delicious homemade dinner and breakfast. Most important, the rooms, dining room, lobby and the whole building are full of Japanese culture! the staff in this hotel is friendly!
very sizable traditional Japanese room with beautiful gardening and outdoors/indoors hot springs. The staff service are good but the hotel has rules with less flexibility.
